Explorer Icon View - How to distance icons, more text?

The major problem with Windows Seven:

In Explorer the icons are too close together. Setting the icon spacing apart only changes the behavior on the desktop.

I HATE THIS.

The icons are too close together and the text barely has any room! I want my icons medium sized but I need more room!

Please tell me there is a fix for this garbage behavior!

Your question is a common one. Unfortunately, there does not seem to be a solution at this time. You can always try holding Ctrl and scrolling with the mouse wheel. See if you can satisfy yourself with different icon sizes.

No, this only works for the desktop!

OH, in explore, I don't know of a hack for that.

What view are you using in Windows Explorer.?

Just the normal icon view in Explorer.

Medium Icons - I like the size because it is like XP but with medium icons but the spacing between the icons is way too small.

it's possible to change the min size of items in icon view (which currently is 74 pixels), it however involves editing a dll using ResHacker or similar. It's the same dll file and resource as this, except the entry to change is

minimumicontextwidth="74rp"

(there's only one instance of it in the file, so can't be missed)

increasing that value will make each item wider, thus fitting more text. Note that the minimum size applies to all icon sizes above Small.

Export the following key before making any changes,

Raising the number gives you more space between the icons,.

As I stated, export this key id anything goes wting or if you don't like the results.

Ah but those only affect icons on the desktop right? from what I understand what the OP is asking about, is icons in folder/explorer windows.
