TP-Link TL-WN620G wireless card issue

FYI. I had a problem with my TL-WN620G card and Windows 7 releases 7000, 7100 & 7127. The drivers would install fine, however, Win 7 was unable to connect to the internet without me setting up my wireless connection.

After a reboot Win 7 would not connect unless I either reconnected the card or set the network connection up again. I have now resolved the issue by using the Atheros AR5005-UG drivers.

If anyone is having a similar issue I would suggest you try and find the chipset your wireless card is using and to try drivers from the chipset provider.

I've got the same wifi adaptor as you. I've been able to use it with the driver provided by TP-Link, but I'm having trouble with it when my computer resumes from standby. Every now and then it'll trigger a blue screen of death upon resuming (well I'm suspecting its the wifi adaptor), or the device just won't start after standby unless I unplug it and plug it in again.

Where did you find the Win 7 driver for the Atheros AR5005-UG?

I saw those, but they are just for card based adaptors like AR5005-G, I need the USB version AR5005-UG which there are only Vista drivers available on that site.

At the moment I'm now testing the D-Link AirPlus Xtreme G DWL-G132 Vista driver 2.2.0.271, which is an August 08 driver. So far it appears to be behaving itself better than the 2007 TP-Link driver I had been using.

Amigo - on the problem with BSOD or problems resuming from sleep, there is a setting you might try. Go into device manager and select the device (wireless card), right click and select properties, and there is a setting - I can't remember exactly where - that should be set so that the wireless card is not allowed to go into power saving mode on sleep. I had a similar problem a week ago and someone on this forum named Mickey steered me right. Yours sounds like perhaps a similar issue. Hope this helps.

Thanks, the D-Link driver seems to be working well so far. No more BSoD, and it always reconnects without any problems upon resume.

It doesn't have any Power Management properties, however, I had played with the various Wireless Adaptor Power Saving Mode and USB selective suspend settings in the Win 7 Advanced Power Options in the Control Panel.

I think the problem was related to the driver and appears to be fixed now. Though I would be still good to try the Win 7 Atheros driver.

i am running w7 ulimate and have had no problems at all
i am not a com geek but just a basic user if you still have probs try a comp re install
the wireless link is great as you can see

same as mine.. what seems to be the problem?
