Warranty question ?

I don't think I need to Overclock but I do have a question, if a computer part (say a graphics card) is overclocked it would be altered from the manufactures settings.... so would the warranty on the graphics card be void ? any advice appreciated ... thank you

Yes it would void the Warranty, but would be difficult for the Manufacturer to prove.

Very possible to prove. Intel has a built in sensor. If you OC it tags the CPU firmware.

GPU is easy to tag the bios and or firmware.

Then again, would you be returning it to the manufacturer or the store where you purchased it? I am fairly certain that the Amazon's and NewEgg's of the world do not run bios checkers when video boards (or any boards for that matter) are returned. I have in fact done precisely that. Not because OC broke the board, but because even with OC, the board was not as powerful as I had hoped. So I returned it (reset the OC back to factory beforehand) and ordered the best card I could afford.

Unless you really FU overclocking, the return period will probably pass before you destroy the component
