I recently had to wipe my hard drive and do a clean Windows 7 install I use Firefox as my default browser and Windows Live Mail 2011.

Since the Windows 7 install any links I send from a web page do not show up as a clickable links when it arrives in someone's mailbox all you get is the Url which you then have to copy and paste. This happens with both Firefox and Chrome.

Now if I just want to send an email I can copy and paste Urls and they do show up as clickable links, I used to have no problem with clickable links before the clean install.

This has got to be some simple setting in either Windows 7 or Windows Live Mail can someone point me to the fix? Thanks!

Well I guess I don't see a Return button? Surely there's a permanent solution rather than having to do something every time you send a link?

I wonder if he meant hit the 'enter' key? instead of return button.

Is there anything in there about setup for HTML, instead of plain text? As you can see, I don't use Windows Live Mail.

I just read somewhere a workaround is if you enter a space after the URL it provides a clickable link and it does work but what was Microsoft thinking disabling this function in WLM 2011.

I've been adding the space around web links in email for years. I don't remember it working without the space since Outlook Express.

I believe this is a problem with IE11. Windows uses the browser for its formatting in lots of areas of the O/S. I have been trying to get a solution for about a week or two now.

We have a business which sends lots of emails each day and have template emails set up for most enquiries. I noticed that after updating to IE11 the template emails which had links in would no longer show as links when pasted in to a new email in Live Mail!

There was a similar formatting problem with IE9 were paragraphs were not showing correctly.

The only fix I have found so far is to roll back to IE10. The problem I have is that IE10 is not working properly on this PC and so I am not able to use this browser any more.

Here is a thread on Microsoft's forum about it:

Windows Live Mail can not copy hyperlinks from one e-mail to another. - Microsoft Community

Despite the moderators saying they cannot recreate the problem it still seems quite widespread!
