Vista SP2 is out

The one frequent problem being reported on the SP2 so far has been problems with the WLM messenger by some.

The Windows Live ID Sign-in Assistant 6.5 installs the Windows Live ID online provider for Windows 7. This provider enables linking a Windows Live ID to a Windows 7 user account

If you dual-boot Vista and Win7 or if you log in on multiple computers.
I dual-boot both and have no issues after installing update.

Are you dual booting Vista and Win7? I see win 7106-7077 under your user name, but not enough information.

Have you got a Vista install disk? You could try a repair install.

Are you kidding? 7 now sees the new "XP mode"! So you're not getting rid of XP that fast! :shock: Gee I had to run right into that one right after nuking XP off of one drive here for the 32bit RC!

I of course exclude all readers of this forum from that last grouping, as of course we'll all have our pre-orders for Win 7 in a month before the release date

:devil: i've a preorder with a torrent site.

The only thing that bugs me now is that sp2 didn't introduce 'on the fly' audio endpoint switching as in 7.

For the rest sp2 made vista perfect as can be and see no reason anytime soon to fork out $300 for some minor gui changes.

Vista SP2 gives people a reason to save some money and stick with Vista. The reports of highly priced Windows 7 have frowned lot of vista owners. Hope SP3 will make Vista as good as XP/Win7

With SP2 out as intended by MS prior to 7's final release it should run even more stable with less twirks plus see a little more support with some new things enabled.

to my mind MS needed to put out SP2 before 7's release to test 7's compatibility. By simple observation i deduced that SP2 contains major parts of 7's core improvements on the vista base, by releasing SP2 they had an enormous preinstalled testbed.

Not bad going, MS finally got it right, i.e. they marketed a product which is basically a moderate update of Vista but got it completely hyped to the skies. And that's every vendors dream, selling a hype.

In actual fact they just repackaged Vista and are going to (re)sell it for major bucks. Smart business acumen.

A scam also, but what hype isn't?

You can create your own system rescue disk. It'll suffice.
Look in your start menu--> program list

I have my Pre-Order from China. ( Legit en-us copy with COA)

many times the Other countries have before the US does. Sample: Russian site WZOR released the torrent with MD5, SHA1, CRC32 for Windows 7 7137, before it was released in the USA. using the same trackers, and HASH markers. Some places get there "Unofficial" copies from Legit US Companies. Some times the leaked version comes from China, (version 7106 was Cn before it was Ru or En).
I also have found the UK gets many times before the USA.
