Do I have to keep my ReadyBoost plugged in?

Hi guys, just have a quick question. I have just started using ReadyBoost and I need to know how to go about ejecting it. Well I don't plan on using it when I don't have my laptop on my desk. So when I need to plug out the USB Drive, do I eject it the same way I would? Do I just pull it out? If I restart the computer without it plugged in, will Windows know that and continue to work without it? I don't want to be boring but I just want to be safe.

Use explorer and find your usb drive. Right click->properties. Click on Readyboost tab. Select do not use this device and click ok. Use normal procedures to safely remove usb device.

So I have to do that every time I want to eject the USB?

The system writes the pages into your pagefile on the disk and on the stick. Pulling the stick should not impede the operation.

There is no problem to remove it after the computer is shutdown. it will restart normaly with out it.
