Solved Xbox 360 PC wireless gaming Receiver

okey i downloaded the new software for windows 7 64bit and when i go to update the driver in device manger i select update drive and then click let me choose and when i click on the microsoft xbox 360 accesories there is no choice for windows common controller or what ever! i dont know what im doing wrong! honestly on the box they should not of said that it was compaitable with windows 7 if you have to do all this... i doubt it matters but i built my computer.

When you get to the part where you are browsing for the driver manually
just choose show all and look under microsoft, you should then see the Microsoft Common Controller for Window Class

Reboot your computer even, then plug the gaming reciever in.

The reason this happens is because you bought a chinese knock off. I bought one too and I had to install it like walkers post said. It works fine though.

I bought a generic xbox 360 wireless receiver for PC and it works perfectly on my vista 32bit system, but will not work with my windows 7 64bit pc.
I manually install the drivers and all the works, but the controllers won't connect to the receiver.
Any ideas what could be wrong and/or what I can do to make them work?

Yes follow Walkers Post on first page, and also keep in mind post above yours if you don't get the Microsoft Common Controller to show up.

After a reboot, try a different USB port and see if it works then.

Plz help me!!!

I just got this thing two days ago, and I've yet to have it work, I've tried everything that I know of but I haven't seen anyone with my specific problem. I bought my reciever one eBay and from what I've read it's a Chinese knockoff (it has no brand name on it). I have Windows XP 32bit. I have the 1.2 driver installed, but when I go to the step where you have to choose windows common, their is NO windows common controller, please help i have no idea what else to do :(!!

When Reinstalling, Do This!!!

There seems to be a lot of confusion as to why the "windows common class controller" is not on the manual driver list. This is because you first MUST install the driver suite.

Windows 7 32-bit
http://www.microsoft.com/hardware/download/DownloadResult.aspx?category=Gaming&type=Gaming&name=JR9-00001&os=Win7_32〈=en

Windows 7 64-bit
Microsoft Gaming Hardware - Download Software

Once the windows driver suite is installed you will then be able to see that the windows common class controller is now an option when manually installing the driver.

I plugged my plug and play charge kit into the computer with my controller connected. This automatically downloaded controller drivers for me to select through device manager :) all sorted now.

Hi mossflower,

I followed these instructions but I don't have "Xbox 360 Wireless Receiver for Windows Version: 2.1.0.1349 [8/13/2009]". I only have:

-Xbox 360 Wireless Receiver for Windows
-Xbox 360 Wireless Controller via Play & Charge Kit
-Xbox 360 Controller for Windows Version: 6.1.7600.16385 [6/21/2006]
-Xbox 360 Wireless Controller for Windows Version: 2.1.0.1349 [8/13/2009]

I tried both "Xbox 360 Wireless Receiver for Windows" and "Xbox 360 Wireless Controller for Windows Version: 2.1.0.1349 [8/13/2009]" but neither would let me sync. I have installed Xbox 360 Accessories 1.2, my OS is Windows 7 32-bit, and I have 3 Xbox 360 wireless controllers to try this with.
