Canon LBP5000 64-bit drivers

Just an update.

As per my previous message, I installed the drivers for Windows 7 x64 (LBP5000) and they worked perfectly first time. Have a look at the same site and you might find similar for LBP5200.

Partially good news here.
I was able to install 32bit LBP5200 drivers to my Windows 7 64 bit system. Using my LBP5200 without a problem now.
How? By installing the XP Mode (Download Windows XP Mode)
Unfortunately, XP Mode is available only in Windows 7 Professional, Enterprise and Ultimate editions.
What do you meen by without a problem now?

How are you printing via XP mode? We installed it but could not get Win7x64 to print via XP Mode. Are you just sending the file to the VM then printing?

Is there a share printer option inside VM I am missing?

Any help on this would be great spent tooo much time on it already for an old noisy clunky printer lol.

It is a bit cumbersome, but at the end you will get your documents printed :)

  • Install the driver IN virtual XP
  • Install OpenOffice in virtual XP
  • Copy your document(s) into a USB stick in Windows 7
  • Open your files in virtual XP and print out.

I don't know if it is possible to set-up some kind of shared folder between virtual XP and Windows 7. Maybe someone with Windows networking knowledge may shed some light?

RE: Canon LBP5200 64-Bit Drivers

What do we do if we don't have Windows 7 Professional installed on our system?
I have a Canon LBP5200 that I use as my main printer. I just recently got a new computer, and wasn't expecting this from such a big company.

I need advice. I can't seem to even open the 32 bit drivers and install them, and I tried the LBP5000 which had drivers without luck. Where now, please?

I sent them an e-mail to support. They were down-right dismissive and this product was still getting sold until nine months ago therefore it should still be upgraded. It is not as if it has been out of production all that long. I am considering whether I send them another one telling them that I might tell the Courier Mail about this and hope the story gets picked up considering how they are always talking about the Supermarkets and that they might relish this story. Hope someone from Canon is looking at this...

As the LBP5200 is not compatible with any current 64-bit Windows operating system, it is unlikely that it will be compatible with the 64-bit version of Windows 7.
