Solved Post a shortcut on the desktop

Here's a visual of what you want to do, it might help:

As was said before, you have o literally right click on the webpages to get the option to create a shortcut. Do not try to create on by clicking on the desktop

That method would work for a simple desktop internet shortcut, but you would not be able to pin the shortcut to the Start Menu or taskbar.

The method below gives you a bit more flexibility instead for the shortcut.

I know that your method works. but the advantage you give is that you can associate a default browser.
But as I stated, If you drag it from the address bar you can pin it to task bar, desktop, quick launch etc.

Hello Zardoc,

When I drag the address bar to the desktop as a shortcut, I see the same thing I posted above when I right click on the shortcut of not having any "Pin to" options in the context menu though.

I could drag and drop the address bar to the taskbar to have the shortcut pinned inside the IE jump list, and drag and drop it on the Start button to pin it in the Start Menu though.

Well, I got it to work by right clicking on the website itself and getting a shortcut, but i'm still concerned by looking at Shawn's tutuorial that said to right click on the desktop, then New, then shortcut. That just doesn't work on my machine.

Oh well, I got what Iwanted. Thanks for the helps.

It's not that, the wizard itself doesn't even come up. I rt click on the desktop, then new, then shortcut, and NOTHING happens.
