I just came back in from running the van to de ice. Keep up with it and it is easier than all at once.

I just came in and crawled in the oven for a few minutes to warm up.

The broiler works great!

We started on sleet about 8am and it is trying to switch to snow slowly. A few flakes mixed in with the sleet now.

Robert sure hope it doesn't get that bad where you and Mike live.... our rain begins tonite.. now they are saying we may be in tornado ally .. NOT the ice /snow one... I don't know which I fear the most.. let's just hope it isn't as bad as they are saying. Stay safe guys.

M'Lady ... for me one tornado in my life is one too many. Here's hoping the storms pass you by!

I wish you luck in avoiding a power outage, Robert.....hope you have blankets and batteries and such though, just in case! I just looked at our weather, and it's not saying ice here, but 15-30 inches of snow over Tuesday and Wednesday.:shock:

Thanks ... yes the pantry is well stocked and there are plenty of camping supplies from our younger days. Lots of candles, lamps, heaters, and a coleman cooking stove. Been here before. Most everything around here is closed except Wal-Mart. "She who must be obeyed" will miss work today and possibly tomorrow as school is closed. As long as we have power the storm is more an inconvenience than a hardship.

35mph winds expected later today.
White out conditions through Wednesday morning at least.

Correct. Woke up to 1" of freezing rain/ice pellets/sleet on the ground. Snowing in earnest now ... like 2" per hour with 20mph winds. Snow event should be over this afternoon, then sub-zero temps.

You take care ... moderation is the safe word when we get to our age. What is the point of shoveling snow today if the wind is just going to blow it back again? And Arctic temps are very hard on a person. Spring is only a few days away!

It is hard to tell how much snow actually fell, not 20" around here for sure, because the wind is blowing it into drifts. Temps are falling but have not lost power, so all is good here!

Thanks for sleet instead of more freezing rain.

We only lost power for about five minutes. As soon as I got the hard wire phone hooked up to report the outage the power came back on.
I should have known that would happen. LOL

So far so good or at least not real bad.

Today (it is 8PM at this writing actually) I am waiting for what the US National Weather Service is predicting to be the worst blizzard since 1912. We have had light rain all day today. Tomorrow morning we could receive up to 1" of ice and then 20" of snow. Following that the temp is expected to fall to -10F. Wind chill index to -25F. If wet snow and ice collect on the trees and power lines we could be without power for days just like '07 and '08.

Here is hoping for the best ... while preparing for the worst!

Starting to dig out. My deck has 3 steps going down. The snow is even with the deck, so just to get out, I had to jump down into it and start digging.....waist high. Roughly 7ft tall drifts around my house, ahhhh....what fun. The neighbors back door was drifted half way up, couldn't get out.

I just spent an hour outside with the snowblower....it appears my toes are all still attached, although I wouldn't have noticed over the last 20 minutes I was out there. I guess next year I'll have to buy new boots, that have room for extra socks!

They do have battery operated socks and gloves to keep you warm!
