Stratos, you're a few months too late to "get up to speed"; I would gladly explain, but it would take too long, just try it out for yourself 
@kristalsoldier: The time needed for initial startup of IE had been dependant on accelerators and add-ons ever since IE implemented them; I did notice a slight improvement, though, but nothing clearly noticeable. Perhaps it is just the fact that IE9 still isn't final, there may still be time to improve this.
