Fan help

I have just got a Sugo case which has 3 80mm fans +Cpu fan(120mm) I have pluged in the Cpu fan straight into motherboard, and I have a Y lead spliter into MB fan output, how can I plug the other fan in ? I dont have any more fan outputs from motherboard! Which is the best option Can I daisey chain a extra Y lead in ? Will there be enough power to run them only 80mm fans? buy a lead and connect straight to power but I am guessing runs this full power all the time so making extra noise or get a fan controler ? I have seen this one

Normally, you can run 2 fans off a single header with a simple y connector.

But you should first investigate the amps required by your fans and compare that to the amps available on the fan header.

You might see something like .3 amps per fan and 1.0 for the header. So 2 fans would be .6 total and would be within the 1.0 available on the header and OK.

Dig into the fans specs and the motherboard specs.

would be a better idea than the possibility of overloading the fan header on the motherboard.

Do you guys not rate fan controllers? I will have to look into the fan specs,two of them came with the case and one after market one.

There is nothing inherently wrong with fan controllers, but in your case they appear to be unnecessary.

They are usually used to control the rpm of several fans externally, most often by overclocking gamers who like gadgetry and are highly concerned with temperatures.

I don't see why you would need one.

Thanks for the replys I am still looking in to extra cables, or the fan controller I like the idea of this even though prob wont use to full! Because if I use the splitter leads I dont see what each fan is doing ie RPM this will be all fans togerther I guess

I dont want to seem like one of those people that ask for advice then go and do completely the,oppersite becuase all the advice I have been given on here is been fantastic! I just really seem to have the moding bug! I think the fan display would look cool! is this a ok Fan controller can anyone recommend that or a better one?

I looked at that controller and the only thing I did't like was the speed control on the fans. It has 4 choices 0v, 5v, 7v, 12v. The good part it has the 3rd lead for measuring the RPM. On my old system I had a Sentry 2 but it did not monitor RPM but gave a % based on voltage supplied. On my new system I am looking at the new Aerocool Strike X panel. It controls 5 fans and has a way to connect the CPU fan to the panel and to the Motherboard since the Motherboard needs to see the CPU fan in order to boot. Also you can adjust the fan speed in 100rpm steps (low end is limited to 1/2 the max rpm) It can handle up to 8w (0.66amps) per channel. I love that fan controller but I only have a single slot left as I am running a SFF system If I had a full size case would deff get one of those!

So I took the case off again tonight and messed around with wiring mainly tidying it up put some cable tidy things i bought for my hi fi years ago and never used tried to move the cable around to make more space and approve air flow I did find out some thing very interesting the fan that make the most noise now is the PSU and the two 80mm fans dont seem to be doing much

If you're running two fans on a single mobo fan header, the voltage output to the fans will be split. The two fans will run slower, making them quieter. If your motherboard allows you to vary the RPM to the specific fan header, increase it and the fans will run faster.
