Alright, so i got the brilliant idea to use the intel integrator toolkit to customize intel motherboard (DH55TC) to allow for over clocking and fan control. needled to say, it screwed all my drivers related to the mobo. IE Video card, USB, ETC. I finally got it to work by reinstalling windows. However I want to go back to real stock BIOS. Simply flashing the update package doesnt work because once you use ITK those become the factory settings. Heres a link to how to undo it, however not knowing much about dos prompts and what not i cant get it to work. ANY help would be appreciated.

Hi! David welcome to 7F :)

Restoring original BIOS settings
Once you have customized BIOS settings with ITK, those settings are considered to be the factory defaults. To change all customized BIOS settings back to the 'real' original settings:

  1. Create a bootable USB thumb drive or floppy disk and copy the file ITOOLKIT.EXE to it (from \program files\intel\intel integrator toolkit folder).
  2. With the bootable device inserted on the system, boot up the PC to the command prompt.
  3. At the command prompt from A:\, type itoolkit remove and press Enter.
Using the toolkit on boards without a floppy interface
For Intel desktop boards that support ITK but do not include a floppy diskette interface, you can use either a USB thumb/key drive or a CD to install the customized BIOS settings to a target system.
You wouldn't need a floppy, unless you have one. Just follow the the advice in the inner quote.

Then boot into Safe Mode pick the option for Safe Mode with command prompt, and type:

A:\itoolkit remove and press Enter. If you have a floppy.

Or

D:\itoolkit remove and press Enter. If you have a DVD/CD.

Or

Whatever drive your Flash stick is in

E, F, G, H, I, J:\itoolkit remove and press Enter.

You can tell where your Flash stick is by going to Explorer, and seeing which removable disk it is in.

I believe all you have to do is go into your BIOS settings and make the CD/DVD device the first bootable device instead of the HDD.

You should be able to make one with your Image burning program.
Or:
http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/548-burn-disc-image-iso-img-file.html

when i boot from the DVD, it tells me reboot and select proper boot device.
Can you fit the file onto your USB?

Is the forward slash a typo? It should be backwards.

Guys, please read the instructions carefully. You need to make a bootable flash drive or CD first, how else will you boot from it?

1) To make a bootable flash drive, follow instructions here:

http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/46707-ms-dos-bootable-flash-drive-create.html

or here:

http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/2432-usb-windows-7-installation-key-drive-create.html

2) Now, copy the itoolkit.exe to the root of the flash drive.

3) Make sure your computer is set to boot from the usb flash drive first, you need to change this order in the bios. Alternatively, stick the thumb drive into the computer, reboot and keep tapping F12- that'll bring up the boot menu, select the thumb there.

4) Theres no such thing as safe mode with a thumb drive- when you boot from it, you'll get a DOS prompt, thats it. At the prompt, type itoolkit remove, then hit Enter. Let it do its thing.

5) The PC may reboot mautomatically or ask you to do it. Make sure you boot from the hard drive this time.

Hey Steve,

For making a bootable CD you'd need an app like ultraiso (you can use the trial version) or nero and a boot image that can be extracted from a bootable source such as a win7 dvd. The bios flash files need to be simply added to the compilation before burning.

I think with usb sticks, its sorta more convenient now, just copy paste. Also many netbooks dont have optical drives now. I remember making bootable CDs for this purpose in the times of XP when usb bootability was not widespread.

Take a look here, just indicative but it'll give you an idea.

Update Your BIOS Using Bootable CD

Right!

Slash - / = incorrect...............backslash - \ = correct

Backslash is used for:

File names in DOS and Windows, e.g. C:\Python31\python.exe, C:\cs8\cTurtle.py

Escape sequences in C, Unix, and other languages/systems that borrow the same syntax (C++, Java, etc.),
for example \n means newline, \t means tab

Forward slash is used for:

File names in Unix (and Mac OS X, since it is derived from Unix),
e.g. /cs/student/jsmith/cs8/lab00, /Users/Shared/cs8/cTurtle.py

Web addresses (URLs) such as: http://www.sevenforums.com/newreply

Dividing in many programming languages, e.g. battingAvg = hits / atBats

Error "PXE-E61 Media Test Failure" at Boot
The error PXE-E61 Media Test Failure can occur at boot, if all the following are true:
  • Boot to LAN is enabled in BIOS Setup.
  • A network cable/connection is not present.
  • Network Boot is in the boot order before a present boot device.
To resolve this, remove Boot to LAN from the list of boot devices in BIOS Setup.
Source: Desktop Boards — Troubleshooting system boot issues

...comes from the PC trying to boot from the network. The "check cable" is referring to the ethernet cable.

FF19 you need to go back into your BIOS and make sure whatever your booting from is first, Then your optional device, then the HDD. If you have a LAN device make that last on the list or disable it.

If you are using a CD or DVD make sure it has no scratches or smudges.
Boot Order:

  • CD/DVD Device
  • Removable Devices USB stick
  • HDD
  • Network Boot

If using a USB stick I would use a brand new one.
