What's the Best Anti-Malware?

Interesting thanks. Where is the setting to make it delete malwares instead of disinfect and is it a good idea to change that?

If you are sure that the storage media you are about to connect to your pc isn't infected then Delete setting is good. If it is infected then Disinfect setting is more appropriate since you probably want to disinfect your infected valueable data and softwares instead of deleting them. But then again you can restore them anytime from deleted items menu, just make sure the permanent-delete-after-30-days setting is unchecked.

I don't believe there is the one perfect protection program out there!

I agree, but Comodo took another giant leap in the right direction with their recent release of Comodo Internet Security 5.3.174622.1216 which on my Win 7 x64 computer scored a perfect 340/340 on the Leak Tests the very first time I tested it.

You use Comodo tester to test a Comodo?

Btw, we have 1000 ways to secure our house, but the burglars have 1001 ways to break in.

You use Comodo tester to test a Comodo?

Yes, I always run the Leak Tests on every new version of Comodo because they contain 34 different simulated real world exploits that can be used to compromise a computer's security and I am of the opinion that its better to find security holes with a reliable test than it is to learn about them the hard way.

In the recent past not all new versions of the Comodo Firewall did this well when tested on my Win 7 x64 desktop and back when I was using Windows Firewall my computer could only thwart 19 out of the 34 exploits which exposed 15 potentially dangerous vulnerabilities that were not being addressed which is why I've been using Comodo on all of my computers ever since.

Max, does the new version of Comodo have a screen that shows your programs and their status - blocked, ask, etc? If it does, I will try Comodo again.

Yes it does under Firewall> Network Security Policy.

For me the latest CIS v5.3 release is the best since the highly acclaimed v3.14!

Corpses

I notice Gilly mentioned corpes in KIS now I have no malware "hits" but have vunerabilities that are mounting - like legal software that could be used by crims,

I am sure this is all Adobe stuff are these the corpes you are speaking of Gil? if not where do I find them? In detailed reports I just have a cast of Ben hur in Anti Banner and these vunerables.

In any case although I wouldn't go anywhere else it's true that no suites can pick everything up one only has to look at the amount produced each day! and I leave my select action alone.

By the by what version of KIS 2011 are you folks using there?

Edit: Is there a leak test for KIS by the way?

I be be I tried Sandboxie a while ago but it was confliccting with my Kaspersky 2011.

I do have a "safe run" in KIS 2011 which I use for confidential stuff ut to use it for everything would drive anyone insane.

But this pm I have just struck problems with WLM and am beginning to think maybe I'll have to use it.

Anyway I am still looking for a leak test for the KIS problem is where?

If you feel safe with it, i believe you should keep it. I havent taken KIS for a spin, so i will defer to your expertise. It would be difficult to tell how any new app will react on your system so its good to be carefull when thinking about such a move.

Ok I be he

Yes couldn't agree with you more I be he - sorry re the last post with your UID - trying to type too fast.

Mate well I wouldn't say I'm an expert I get all the gen from the Guru out here - I'm just one of the sheep lol!! ?lemmings even more lol!!

Plus I tried quite a few suites in the past and this one is really thorough - well for a non expert it is - though in all frankness is there a suite that is totally safe?? especially when one reads and hears about people like Assange and Co and he's only one.

I reckon anway that a lot comes down to the user and how careful or not they are and being human (like the pun??) there are really stupid folks around.

Well doing a build soon so might even try the D+ out - if you do take the KIS for a spin though make sure it's the .556 (b.c.d) version as there are a lot who will tell you its (b.c).

The key to being totally safe is in totally effective computer Virtualization. My nephew is currently serving in the US Military and was attached to a communications outfit in Iraq for 3 consecutive tours and when we were discussing computer security he told me that they operate their computers exclusively under Oracle software Virtualization with not so much as one mention of any civilian internet security program of course in his line of work they are doing more than just trying to avoid malicious code there are lives at stake.

36.4 Mbps Maximum on a 37 Mbps Motorola SB501 Modem
I think the best suite would be Norton 2011, but you will have to pay for it. I would advise re-formatting your O.S. before trying Comodo, this is highly recommended to get the best results, and to make sure the hipps wont see any malware and think its part of your system. Once it learns your system it will be allmost impossible for something to get through. And free to.;)
