IE 9 and Spell Check

Can anyone please explain to me why IE9 does not have a native spell-check capability? All other browsers seem to have it. Is there a technical reason that prevents IE from having this? Has MS ever explained why spell-check is not included as a feature of IE (especially in 9 Beta and RC)?

Thanks

Thanks for the suggestions. I used to use ieSpell when I was using IE8. I did not need it in Chrome as it already has one. And, now I am absolutely hooked to IE9 (at least the RC version). I'll try your suggestions on my install of IE9 or maybe wait till after Monday when the RTM is released.

But really, this lack of a spell-check is mystifying. What's even more mystifying is that the folks at MS don't even seem to bring it up either (at least as far as I have been able to look into it).

Edit: To tell the truth, I'd rather not have something like a spell-check capability in the form of an add-on. I'd much prefer if it was baked into the browser...but what the hell do I know about these things!

Might check out Speckie also.

Thanks.

Couldn't get ieSpell to work, Speckie seems to be working.

This will save me time, checking for errors, which I'm not very patient with.

I asked the IE Team on YouTube if they could add a spell check, and I was quite surprised to see that they replied saying the'd pass it on to the team. Doesn't seem like they remembered to include it... :(

When I bought a language pack for Office 2007 (Japanese pack), it included everything EXCEPT a Japanese spell checker. Microsoft dropping spell checkers across its software range seems to be a common occurrence.

I can't seem to figure out how this ieSpell works. I installed it but when I type wrong spellings on purpose on textboxes on IE9, I don't see the red underline that you see on Firefox's spelling checker.

Guess I got used to a browser with a native spelling checker. We can't tell why they hell did IE9 not have one when its a very crucial need and since every other browser has it. Also IE9's download manager can't even resume most of the paused downloads, since it starts all over again. I dunno why the developers of IE almost certainly purposely missed adding these very basic yet very important abilities a browser should have which is forgive me to say, a stupid decision.

ieSpell is not a real-time spell checker. You have to right-click when you're finished typing, and click 'Check Spelling'. Get Speckie, it's the best.

Please notice that Speckie is not working on pinned website.
For me, I will pin Hotmail to the taskbar. Therefore, I am finding alternative solution.

I don't use pinned sites, I just open IE. I don't need to close a browser to go to other website(s).

Unlike ieSpell it's real-time. There are still a few things to work out and improve, but at least I don't have any issues like with ieSpell which is why I chose it too.

Might check out Speckie also.

After using ieSpell for years, I just had to switch to Speckie.

The main reason is that ieSpell is 32-bit only, and apparently isn't supported anymore so no chance of a 64-bit version. Whereas, Speckie is both 32-bit and 64-bit.

And after using Speckie for a short while now, I kind-of like it even better than ieSpell. ;)
