Whats your CPU assesment speed?

Wow, that i7 is a bit disappointing. That's part of the reason why i keep laptops low powered and portable and keep desktops for the power stuff. I'm somewhat surprised though, the rest of the hardware shouldn't be impacting these scores that much.
Well, both my systems perform very well. I guess it is due to the SSDs. Apart from the video editing, I really do not perform any heavy duty tasks. So I am not really unhappy. This is the difference between measurements and real life.

But I think next year I will have a new one built. Would do it myself, but with my poor eyesight, I cannot see the itty.bitty parts. When I do anything in the boxes, I always need the wife to place the bits.

On paper (WEI), the laptop looks pretty good though - for a laptop.

Hey you lovers of black cmd screens. Do me a favor and copy the content of the cmd screen into the posting - else it is impossible to read.

When the measurement in cmd is done, right click on the cmd window and click "select all". Then right click again and the content of the cmd window is on the clipboard. Then you can paste it into your posting.

Its not an i7, but its close enough for now... Im waiting for Intels new octal core CPU later this year!

I'm in the same boat. My home Q9550 runs at 3.2Ghz though. A friend just bought a Sandy Bridge i7 2600K and overclocked it to 4.2 this week. While that makes the inner nerd in me want to build a new computer, there is absolutely no reason to as my Q9550 runs fabulously and doesn't really drag in real-life usage...just in benchmarks against these newer chips. My box will be 2 years old in June. I expect that I'll replace it in another 12-18 months.

pparks:

Our systems are nearly identical in age... mine will be two years old in July. I have relaibly OC'd this aircooled CPU to 3.8GHz... but I backed it down to 3.4GHz to air on the side of reliabilty! I know that with a liquid cooler, and voltage tweaking I could hit 4.0GHz, and I know plenty who have it! ...but this is my home media server for now and runs 24/7. I too am still looking at 12-18 months before I upgrade. I only notice how "slow" my system is when a client gets a new i7 system...:D

I usually wait until a new CPU has been out for at least 6-12 months to let the price "mature and soften", and I anticipate the same once Intel releases their 8 core later this year. I also like to research what the new CPUs can do when OC'd! I have upgraded sound, video, etc to latest technologies so I really will just need to upgrade my P.S., Mobo, CPU, and RAM... may use it as an excuse to get a different case too!

OP:
Can these results be put into a graph or spreadsheet format???

I took mine from 2.83Ghz to 3.2 by changing FSB to 400 and knocking down 8.5x to 8.0. This allowed me to run RAM at 1:1 ratio with FSB. My temps with the stock cooler moved less than 2 degrees. So, I just left it alone. Never tried for more.
