Asus, problems restoring to factory settings

is there really no other way? this laptops new... its still under warranty. Would Asus be able to fix the problem? sadly i cant call them since they're on break for easter holidays

i did mark the asus recovery partition as active but the startup repair still failed.

Marking the Asus Recovery Partition active is not for startup repair.
Will the Asus Recovery Partition now boot, with no CD/DVD in drive or USB drives plug in?

Yes, Asus can fix under warranty.

when i booted it with the recovery partition active it goes straight to the start up repair after the usual windows splash screen.

You have factory warranty for one year, during which time you should work with their tech support to sort out these issues via troubleshooting or RMA, so that by the time your warranty is up you know you have a good machine with no ongoing issues.

If you get a bad tech support agent, politely say you must go and call back in. Be cooperative and eager to learn. Feel free to cross-check what they tell you with us.

well, sent it to asus, repaired it over night, they said there was a problem with the hard disk
