I had this problem
---------------------------------------------------------------
I installed windows 7 two days ago and everything works fine for me except one.
I can't run video games on lower resolutions. For example, I use to run counter strike source on Vista with resolution 1280x1024 (LCD) and Aspect ratio ( normal 4:3 ) and it was working perfectly. Now when im running counter strike source at this resolution I can't see the menu normally the screen look too narrow (black at sides) . and this problem is not only on counter strike with other games i have the same problem i can't lower the resolution.

Sorry my english is limited

just right now , i found the solution i installed old vista driver for my video card on windows 7, this one is 182.50_geforce_winvista_64bit_english_whql and it helpd a lot, it fix this problem.

I think If you have similar problem you can fix it by installing old driver for your video card. ( i installed Vista driver for my video card and it works!!! )

I hope this will be helpful.

Do not do this. There is no need to downgrade your graphic card driver. That is NOT the issue!

I had that same problem all you need to do is simply open NVIDIA PhysX Properties.

Then go to Change Flat Panel Scaling and select Use My Display Built-in Scaling.

That should do the trick. And you don't downgrade your driver.

When YupYup told me about this option i could not find it anywhere i was searching this option for houres and no result , but i searched in google to find out about this Flat Panel Scaling and people were writing that new drivers does not have this option , there were some methods how to enable it but neither of them worked on my computer.

If you can please put the picture or put a small explanation how to enable this option it would be great !
it will help many people!

Open the Nvidia control panel by one of 2 methods. See pic for settings.

1. right click desktop then left click "Nvidia control panel"

Or

2. left click on "Nvidia control panel" icon in your computers control panel

It seems the drivers think you have a CRT monitor, i would suggest installing any drivers you might have for that monitor or cleaning out all the old video drivers from your system and install again.
