But the thread is already marked as solved, so the option should be to unsolve it.

Oh! I am not aware that we, the OPs, have an option to " un-mark " a " solved " thread.

But, please explain the purpose of such an option.
Unlike other forums where, after a period of time, the mods will mark threads as Answered if they see replies they consider as correct answers, regardless of whether the OPs say so or not. That, I strongly disagree.

You don't do that here, so why this option ?

It gives you the option to reopen your thread if the problem returns is the way I see it.

You mark it solved today and the exact same problem returns tomorrow or next week.
Remove the solved check on the old thread and post "help problem is back."

Everyone has access to past posts to resolve the issue instead of starting from scratch.
We would know this worked but not this etc.
Where do we go now?

Makes sense to me. ;)

If it has been a month or more I would start a new thread though.
Include a link to the old thread if possible.

My 2 cents. :D

See this thread - http://www.sevenforums.com/chillout-room/171256-new-mark-your-own-threads-solved.html

The green check mark
tick.png
on the thread if it's marked as solved is what visually specifies that the thread is solved. Not that button.

So it 's not a typo, if the thread is your own thread and it's marked as solved, you'll see the button say "Mark as unsolved" because it is already marked as solved. The button gives you the option to un-mark it if it isn't solved when you thought it was. Only on your own thread though.
