HP All-in-One scans do not save to disk

I scan documents and pictures and they show up visually in the HP Solution Center box. I click on "finish" and the scan does not get saved to my hard drive. I click on "launch directory automatically" and it does not do this. I have another PC running XP and the functionality works fine. I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate 64.

Any ideas on how to get the images (documents or pictures) to actually save to the hard drive - or to e-mail?

Are you 'importing' the scanned item?

Not importing - just utilizing the HP solution center as I always have done. Scan document / photo from the all-in-one scan bed or the document feeder.

If you name and import the scanned image, it should save in your pictures library.

Exactly! However, it does not do this. I go through the name/save - but, it does not save. I click on "automatically launch" in the folder where I save - but, it doesn't do this either.

this is a known issue. go to HP.com and download the patch or the latest drivers for your printer and OS.
I had this issue on vista but 7 has the newest drivers so it's all fixed. (I suggest you use the latest driver suit for your printer) that's what fixed mine.

here's the one for mine. (in case you can't find one for yours, so you know I'm not full of it LOL)

This is extremely positive ... however, I've tried this with my HP L7780 but when I download and then it tries to install - the message comes back that the file is not required. So, it does not install.

I still cannot get my images.

make sure you have the latest driver software suite.
that's what finally fixed mine.

and check the path where it's storing your scanned immage. should be in a folder called "my scans" in your documents library by default.
and try saving it in a different format. such as a jpeg etc.

I had this issue but ever since I installed the latest software suite it works for me. this has been the most finicky printer software/drivers I've ever owned
