Codejock.Controls.Unicode.v15.1.3 - What is it?

And where did it come from? I now have this file, Codejock.Controls.Unicode.v15.1.3.ocx, in the root of my D drive & have no idea where it came from or what it does.

Any insight? Google was not much help.

It appears that it may be a virus since it is not in your System32 folder (DO NOT PUT IT THERE). Download and install the free version of Malwarebytes : Free anti-malware, anti-virus and spyware removal download and run a full scan.

What antivirus are you currently running?

Using avast at the moment. System has only been up & running a few days so I don't know where it came from.

Last thing I did before I noticed it was to run the program from here.

Everything I have read about it suggests that if it is not in your System32 folder, then it is likely a virus or malware. Have you noticed any of the following symptoms:

Computers run much slower than ever before because of insufficient system resources.
It takes forever to start up/shut down the computer, open a website or run a program.
Your homepage has been changed to a different one even though you have changed it back several times.
You continuously receive annoying unexpected and unwanted pop-up ads.
New strange favorites or toolbars have been added to you browser without your permission.
Some programs do not run properly as what they used to.

Think I may have nutted it out.

Yesterday I installed eSword. A program that lets you compare different Bible translations. That's when I first noticed the offending file. I put it in the bin when I saw it.

Today I opened another program & eSword started going through its install procedure which I thought was weird when it did.

Again I put it in the bin. While trying to figure out where it came from I opened the same program as before & eSword started up again & this time I saw it create the file on the root of D.

eSword is now uninstalled & I'll get in touch with the maker of it & see what gives.

Got this reply:

"If you want, redownload the setup as it was updated to not install that component into the wrong location."

At least it was nothing to worry about.

I know this post are late, but it will be more for futher educational purpose. Codejock.unicode.controls are not a virus o malware, is a package of controls used by a software developer to make programs. Things like nice calendars, user interface or outlook style windows and things like that. The company name is CodeJock. User Interface Components and Controls for Visual C++ MFC, Active-X, COM and .NET WinForms. When you instaled a some program this file must have come with it.
