Ok I dont know if this will work in win7, but from this site: General Networking/Lan/Wan: port blocking, tcp ip ports, network dialup

instructions are to do the following:

You can easily block any TCP/IP ports you wish. In Windows 2000 or Windows XP:

1) Start... Settings... Control Panel... Network & Dialup Connections

2) Right-click on the network connection (usually this will be Internal LAN) and select Properties.

3) Select TCP/IP, click Properties, then Advanced

4) Select TCP/IP Filtering then click Properties. Click the "Enable TCP/IP Filtering" check box, then select the ports you want to filter or allow.

Well I'm always being attacked via Port 1434. And the information for blocking ports in win 7 is unavailable. I can't find it anywhere, not even in Microsoft answers. So, I thought one of the Boffins (love that word) here, would know how to block a port in 7, win7 that is.
Sorry I don't make myself clear as I have hard trouble explaining myself. It's hard for you lot to understand me I know but I'm not to good with the English language. I was very bad at it in school!

I may want to invest in a new or used router. Most wired and wireless routers have built in hardware firewall, which is a lot better than most commercial software firewalls.

I don't use a router as they tend to overheat in my room. It's nice and warm in 'ere.

how are we supposed to be able to help when you don´t tell us what firewall you are using ?

doesn´t Kaspersky have a setting to block all or specific ports ?
i don´t remember as i haven´t used KIS for a while.

if you don´t have any need to allow incoming connections, then just block ALL connections.

fx. i´m using Comodo´s firewall, and i got tired of all popups asking what to do, so i blocked ALL incoming connections...

firewall should be blocking ALL incoming traffic. Your sent traffic rules will allow the query to pass through.

To Block a specific port on Windows 7 (assuming you are using windows firewall) . Go to control panel, Select Administrative tools, Select Windows firewall with advanced security, Click on Inbound rules, click on "New Rule" in Action Pane, Click on Port then next, enter port then next etc. and you will create a new rule that will block access to the port you specified (it will be added to the list of rules currently displayed governing inbound traffic to your computer). You will find it in the list under the name you called it when you created it. Once completed test it by going to http://www.grc.com and scanning your port. It should show stealth mode.
