BSOD OS Ver 6.1.7601.2.1.0.768.3 Problem

Hi,

I have run verifier in Safe Mode for more than 36 hours but the comp did not crash. So I decided to try running verifier selectively. There are a few trials.

First, I sorted the drivers according to their providers then selected drivers as shown in the attached picture file named Capture1.jpg. The comp did not crash and I could enter Windows.

Then, I deleted the previous settings and selected only the drivers with <unknown> providers as shown in the attached pic named Capture2.jpg. The comp crashed when rebooted as previously described, it crashed too soon, before entering windows and no dmp file found.

Third attempt, I selected all the drivers except for those with <unknown> providers. When I rebooted, comp managed to enter Windows for a minute or so (desktop was seen) then it crashed. I checked the Minidump file and found a new dmp file being created. I am not sure if this is the right dmp file though.

Do let me know if any more verifier needs to be run. Thanks :)

You need to run verifier in normal mode for in safe mode most of the drivers (which may be the problem) arent loaded.

Yeah those three attempts were run in normal mode. The dmp file attached earlier is created when verifier was run in normal mode, but without selecting the drivers provided by <unknown> and Microsoft, since if all drivers except those provided by Microsoft were selected, I couldnt even get into windows. And no dmp file created.

Is the dmp file found to be useful?

The most recent crash (12/20) is blamed on Your Kaspersky. It is not verified but Kaspersky is a known cause of crashes.

I do notice Kaspersky which is a frequent cause of BSOD's. I would remove and replace it with Microsoft Security Essentials AT LEAST TO EEST.

Hi zigzag,

Just to update, I've deleted Kaspersky and so far no crash yet. So I'm hoping for the best. I'll let you know if it crashes again. Anyways thanks for the help. Was so lost without your help. Really appreciate it. Thanks! :)
