100GB of free space is unusable, not able to create new simple volume

I deleted a partition of 100GB which was Drive D
Instead of going into unallocated space, it became free space.
When I tried to create a simple volume, it gives an error that "there is not enough space on the disk for this operation"

If i try to delete it, then a warning pops up saying that it might be inaccessible on deletion and after accepting that it gives the error that not enough space.

How can I get this back?

Looks as if you already have 4 partitions - that is all you can have on mbr disk.

Disk mgmt may be incorrectly reporting the oem partitions as primary.

Did you have 5 before?

Try a 3rd party partition manager - see what it says-this one is free and can handle gpt

You already have 4 primary partitions on that disk - how are you expecting to create another one? I'm not even sure how you managed to create 5 partitions on an MBR disk in the first place .

You cannot, not without deleting another primary partition. You can only have 4 partitions on an MBR disk, which is why Windows (by default) creates the 4th partition as an Extended partition (which can contain additional logical partitions inside of it) when using Disk Management. You have 4 Primary partitions, and as such you'd have to delete another partition from that list to create another partition (and in this case, obviously you'd want to create an extended partition once you did get to that point).

As has already been explained to you, you can only have up to four primary partitions on your hard drive.

Delete what's after your C drive then create a new extended partition in the resulting unallocated space.

Alternatively you could just extend your C drive to take up the empty space.

Partition Wizard is used by many of us and is a method we recommend.

Windows only recognizes a small number of partition types as logical, and the rest as primary (or unknown), so if you created it with another tool (or under Ubuntu) as a logical partition, it's going to depend on what the actual partition type that was used to create the partition was, and which tool created it. Windows says it's primary, so Windows won't let you create another primary partition.

I would think you would be able to grow the C: partition into that space with the Windows disk management.

If you want to use it for the partition on the other side of it, I think you would need to use partition wizard.

Cluberti is right.

Because Windows already 'sees' four primary partitions you cannot create another one.

Everything to the right of the C drive needs to be unallocated space, and then you can create a fourth extended partition on it.

But he said he deleted that partition. Don't know, you may be right. Never got myslef into this pickle as I don;t see much point in partitioning drives to this level.
