Partition not accessible!.........but files visible in CMD!!

hi, i am new here............i was actually trying to install linux mint 12 last night i got into advance installation to install it but then i decided not to install linux........then i went back to my windows 7 64-bit..........i have three partitions C,D and E but now D is not accessible.I have tried to take the ownership but in properties of D partition there is no security tab while other two partition do have it and i have tried to access D drive through CMD files are visible there..............Please help i have a lot of data in it and i dont want to lose it:(

What is on the D partition? If nothing important then delete the partition and recreate a new one in the unallocated space.

What is on the D partition? If nothing important then delete the partition and recreate a new one in the unallocated space.

A lot of my university data and very important images i cant format it....please tell me any solution??

Can you attach the screenshot of disk management?
or
try viewing it using third party partition program. (Easeus or partition wizard will do)

It's possible when you cancel the installation, Linux already get the hand to D partition.

As you say you can see the files in Command Prompt. In that case you can also copy them there and paste into another drive. I hope you still remember the copy and paste commands in DOS. In case you have forgotten a visit to MS-DOS copy command help would refresh your memory.

After that you can delete and recreate the partition.

now i can't access it in CMD...............when i open D in CMD it says data error(Cyclic redundancy check)

well......i have used a recovery software and right now i am recovering it.............but guyz please tell me the why this happened..............did anyone tried to hack my drive ???:eek:

Most probably it happened because the installation of Linux and then cancelling it half way through messed up your MBR. Unlikely that your drive was hacked.

when i do this CMD says Access denied as you do not have sufficient privileges
you have to invoke this utility running in elevated mode..........what does this mean and i want to know why my drive is behaving like this??:(

chkdsk/f d: checks disks for errors nad tries to fix them

chkdsk/r/f d: also checks if sectors can be read and written ... takes hours btw ... depending on size of partition
