This bios is not Acpi compliant

For about 5 weeks my pc would not boot up properly and i eventually discovered that one of my ram chips was faulty so i replaced it and now works only upto 3 gig with windows 64 bit but when i install the 4th chip i get a Bsod with the message this bios is not Acpi compliant so i went to the motherboard website and updated the bios but i still get the same message,

You aren't the first person to have an issue with that motherboard. Have you seen this?

Hiyya roger and welcome mate I have a similar problem only with a much older board in a Think Centre insomuch that it only likes certain brands of RAM for some reason even when the speed and support for that amount of RAM is ok - have you checked the compatibility listings for that board?

I found too recently that picking RAM for AMD CPU's quite frustrating and G Skill for instance make some really nice RAM for Intel based stuff but it seems that they made very little specific for AMD (the machines I was working on).

Could be something real simple as one tends to look at worst case scenarios first.

Well i went to the crucial website and scanned my computer and it gave me a list of compatable ram and one of these sticks seems to be working fine its only when i put in the second stick i receive this message.

Hum just as a matter of interest have you just upgraded to 64bit? what is the machine generally used for and what amount of RAM are you trying to install?

If the machine is just for general use and the fourth stick is not going to work and if you are aiming at 4GB I personally would get two sticks of 2GB or you could even try three (6GB)- if the max RAM is what you are aiming for 4GB should be ok for general use.

Myself I have used three sticks in a system with this problem and it has worked out fine - as an experiment you could try adding a 2GB stick and then another onwards until you hit the problem (powering of between additions of course) . Unfortunately it sounds like your board is maybe needing to be upgraded Roger

Well i had 3x1 gig sticks of crucial ballistix tracer ram which worked well with 32 bit windows 7 so i upgraded to 64 bit but then when i tried to boot up my machine it kept failing and would only boot once in every 30 attempts.finally after 5 weeks of Bsods i got messages of IRQL not less or equal which pointed me to a faulty ram chip, so one by one i loaded the chips individually and narrowed it down to the faulty ram stick, which i have now replaced from advice from crucial customer services.It works well on the 64 bit windows with 3 gig but i do play games and i need the extra ram and i watch dvds which need the extra,you are right i do need to upgrade my motherboard when i have the funds i will build what will be my 4th pc but i still would like to sort out this problem first if its possible.

Hum Roger sorry about the predicament mate - reckon some 2 or 4GB sticks might be the go - if that doesn't work then at least you will have them on board so to speak for the next build.

As a by the by I have gone off AMD stuff due to a) Intel forging ahead and b) Intel seem to have better options (IMHO) for RAM configs. If the graphics are a major consideration then a decent GPU would sort that out eh?
