Hello everyone,

From last few days I am suffering from Low Disk Space error for my C drive where windows is installed. I tried disk clean up...its works for few mins and again my disk gets full.

My total Hard drive space is 640 GB(I am using Lenovo Z570 laptop) where C drive is with 97.5 GB...I know its there is no more than 16-17 gb data in my C drive but still it shows this error and I am unable to download data, stream videos and so on.

I've attached screenshot of what error I am getting...what is my disk space(97.5 GB) and what is total size occupied(16.3 GB) by my data in C drive(I select all folders in C drive and calculate total size actually occupied).

Can anyone help me regarding this? How can I fix this issue.

Thanks in advance

Windows 7's default for shadow storage is 10% of the drive space, but if you're not too concerned with how many restore points you need you could easily drop the setting to 5%.

If you intend creating regular system image backups you could in fact dispense with system restore altogether and regain all the drive space it's currently taking up.

The choice is entirely up to you, just remember that if you are using system restore, the oldest restore point gets deleted when all the allocated space is used up.

Hidden files and folders are already viewable as you can see my screenshot...where I've selected all folders in my C drive you can see some hidden folders are also selected.

Thanks

Its ma by thumb to ask.
  • how many space you have reserved for pagefile? (Virtual RAM memory)
  • Is there an antivirus installed (its be possible that a virus has copied all your folders again and again, and hided him with secured windows files)
  • have you try to download a large file with a torrent client (This problem happen when your client is set pre-allocate disk space on)

Don't know if it will help but you could install WinDirStat and see if anything stands out.

untick hide secured operating system files and tick show hided folder. And give me a screen of that. I think that a virus has copied your files and hided them on this way.

normaly windows wil give a message if you untick this, press yes.
