Been looking into getting a new mouse for the game types in the title, mostly for FPS and MMO. Been looking at the Razer Naga mouse and the Logitech G300. I consider myself simi-pro and have been competing in competitions locally on console for the past few years and want to go back to PC due to BF3 crapping out on me.

Are you a claw grip, finger tipper or palm gripper? (How you hold the mouse - most important decision because your grip style dictates comfort etc - search for the difference)

Are a shed load of extra buttons necessary?

The Naga does have the shedload of buttons for MMO.

I would not recommend the Naga if you have large hands, the back 6 buttons will be largely useless to you. The Naga is designed strictly for MMOs with a large number of abilities. Razer Naga - MMO Gaming Mouse | Razer Online Store

If you do go for an original Naga, it would be wise to stay very far away from the Naga Epic. This mouse is a sad excuse for the original Naga.

The Naga Hex is designed more for MOBA and FPS games, it has 8 buttons arranged in a hex rather than 12. I've had a chance to play with one of these for a week, it is perfect IMO for these types of games.

I do not have any experience with the Logitech you mentioned.

As far as optical vs laser, I think it really comes down to a personal preference. I've owned Razer products for a while, and most are laser.

I am not affiliated with Razer in any way, just an enthusiastic user of their products.

I'm a semi-palm/semi-claw.

I really REALLY loved my deathadder until my dog decided to use it as a chewtoy. It feels great, and it's easy to maneuver because of it's design.

I also have a steelseries kinzu as a new mouse, and as of now, I'm currently loving it. It's simple design is fantastic, and it goes nicely into your hand if you're a palmer.

What makes you think he should stay away from the Naga Epic, In my opinion it's a valid choise for those who do feel the need for some additional associars on it. I've been using the Epic for about half a year now and I'm happy with it. I'm using most of the 12 additional buttons. The only buttons im annoyed with is the 2 ones above the scroll wheel but hey. I've got another 12 buttons and the 2 above the scroll is perfect for those things you dont have to do in a hurry but still do quite often for example mounts in WoW. I'm using the mouse both wired and wireless. Wired when gaming and Wireless when just surfing the web and watching movies, At that point i use the mouse as a remote controll for my computer. You also get an additional 2 grips so you can try your way to the grip you find most comfortable also if you do enjoy showing of the mouse will rotate between all colors you can think of as standard. I decided to just set it to blue as everything else is in the theme of blue. The backlight of my Razer Lysoca, my speaker led light aswell as the start button for my computer.

If you do have any real reasons for him to stay away from the Naga Epic please atleast state them. You might see the additional fucntions useless or utterly retarded but that does not mean that the thread starter sees them as useless and uterly retarded.

Sure the Razer Naga Epic is not fit for your everyday standard user. But if you do spend a lot of time at the computer and want to be able to move around with the mouse and you might even have a wireless keyboard this mouse could actually be the best choise for you since they do include a rechargable battery as well which will load while connected by cable or when you are puttin iit in the recharge holder which is included and ways a ton.

If you are intressted in getting a Razer Naga Epic you can actually mage the grip quite similar to the Razer DeathAdder since one of those grips are included with it.
