Hi Guys
I'm running Win7 Pro 64bit.

A while ago I had my disc cleaned and reloaded after some hardware problems. The guy that did it kept a copy of my old drive just in case. I'm now trying to get rid of them as all they are doing is cluttering up the disc.

I've deleted a lot but some keep popping up with "You require Permissions from Administrators to Make Changes to this Folder" or "You Need Permissions to Delete this Folder". I'm running as Administrator so can't fathom out what the problem is.

Can anyone tell me what I have to do to get permissions to get rid of these files (I'm Intermediate in terms of knowledge)?

Regards,
Graham

Thanks. Im on Win7 Pro 64bit and have several hundred or more files to delete, so I hope I can find one overall solution.

I've tried changing permissions. I confirmed my account "XYPC" (which has administrator priveleges) has ownership but when I try to delete these files I get an error message saying try again, I "require permission from "XYPC" account to make changes to this folder". Any ideas how do I get the PC to understand it is "XYPC"account trying to make the changes???

You know what I actually used to use a app for this. (there is a proper method for deleting that specific folder but my brain just isn't giving it up this morning.)

Anyhow the app is called unlocker, it's free and it should tell you exactly why you are unable to delete it.

that is odd, it's worked on every system I've ever put it on, did you try a reboot?
