Hello, this is my first post on these forums.

Okay, so when I got home today my computer was still on from yesterday. It was working fine, but when I played some Team Fortress 2 I noticed that the performance wasn't all there. So I decided to restart it because that usually fixes everything, and I thought it might be ''tired'' from running for a long time.

Here comes the weird part:

Or, one of the weird parts I guess.

Anyway, when it started from the reboot I couldn't see the accounts, so I couldn't log in. The only thing visible on the screen was the windows 7 background. So I'm like wtf. I tried restarting it again, but then the starting screen got black and it got stuck on some white text. Plus a spinning /. So I found my Windows 7 CD and put it in. Then I got two choices after pressing install, repair and install. So I tried repair, and it asked me if I wanted to upgrade the computer(or fix it) and keep all my files and everything, so I thought yeah. But it didn't work, can't remember why. I'm sorry that I don't know everything it said. Anyway, I decide to just reinstall Windows and I do, deleting all of my shit. Oh well.

ANYWAY, it works now. I made a new account and all that, but when I got in the resolution was off. Here is the first current problem.

The resolution is stuck at 640 x 480. I can't choose any other resolution, but I could once. But I clicked the wrong one and declined when I got asked if I wanted to keep that resolution. It won't give me another chance. I'm trying to intall drivers, but I can't click the buttons because they're out of the screen because of the resolution. This is so frustrating.

My other problem is that I can't connect to internet either. So I can't download drivers on the internet. My computer tells me I need to install a driver for the internet. ****.

SO, does anyone have any kind of idea what I can do to fix the resolution without internet? There's a lot of buttons that would be helpful, but I can't click them all because they don't fit in the screen.

My computer is relatively new, had it in maybe 6 months or something, and it's supposed to be pretty good.

I copy pasted my order when I bought the computer:

It would have been best to ask us before you wiped out your old install since we could have helped you repair it or copy out your files to run Factory Recovery or Clean Reinstall.

What's best now is to start over and follow these steps to get a perfect Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7.

Note that you should put your LAN driver on stick or CD to install to get online to get the latest drivers from optional Windows Updates. Any missing drivers can then be imported from the Support Downloads webpage for the Device model, or ask back here for help.

I do not see your Ethernet or Wireless adpater in the above list so I can't help you find it on it's maker's Support Downloads webpage.

Thank you for replying.

I can't fill out the specs because I have no internet. I use an ethernet cable, and I don't know what an adaptor even is. I need drivers, and I have them on a CD, but I can't install because the ''Proceed'' buttons won't show because of the resolution. Oh, and btw. I don't know the brand of my computer myself. I went to the website, got my nerdy friend to help me pick out the good pieces, and the company puts it together. It cost me over 1 668.39 U.S. dollars including the headset and keyboard. All I need is a way for the driver installs to fit in the screen, or to hide that bar showing the runnning programs and the start button and time. I think if I hid that bar I'd be able to click the buttons on the driver installs.

We need to at least know who your LAN (Local Area Network) adapter manufacturer is so that we can help you get some drivers for it and get you online.

Once we've done that we can help you get back up and running again.

Can your 'nerdy' friend help you with these drivers?

If you have your drivers on a CD it may not be very difficult to locate the Ethernet Driver.

Pop the CD in the CD Tray and open the Run Dialog Box (Windows Key+ R). Browse to the Ethernet Driver in the CD by pressing the Browse Button, find the needed Setup File and install. That should do the trick. The same procedure may be followed for the Display Adapter. It doesn't really matter in which order you install the drivers.

If you find this difficult please request your nerdy friend to do it for you. If is a pity that an over $650/- computer is not working properly for you.

You mean System Specs? For that you click on User CP on the top and then in the left panel click on the Edit System Specs. Then you fill out those Text Boxes about which you have definite information. Some of the information is there in your first post.

The other items you may fill up gradually as you keep getting the missing specs of your computer. Your vendor and your nerdy friend may be able to help you out. I am looking forward to seeing more of you on these Forums.

While in User CP you might like to fill the other items too and may be post a profile picture or an avatar.

Good luck to you.

Have you checked optional Windows Updates yet to see if it's delivered drivers? Those are the ones you want. I posted this at the beginning of the thread but apparently you didn't read it.

After all of your Updates are installed, if any drivers are still missing in Device manager find them on the Support Downloads webpage for your Device make/model. We can also help you find them.

Since you also didn't follow my advice to start over and get a perfect Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7 at least read over the steps so you understand how it is done and the best methods to maintain a perfect install. Feel free to ask back any questions or for more help.

I did read your reply, it's just that (as if you didn't already know) compared to some of you I'm completely clueless when it comes to this. I have no idea what an adaptor even is, I didn't have any interest in burning a CD of a copy of Windows when I already have an official CD of it. I'm glad I took care of all the stuff that came with the computer, and I lol at myself for getting irritated by getting all of it, those CD's installed the drivers so now everything is fine. Just did a restart and it had to install 83 updates. I have not checked for Windows updates online, and I didn't when I read your reply because I didn't have any line to be on. If you know what I mean, no intawebs. But thanks for spending your time trying to help me and giving me tips :)

This is an interactive forum so if you have difficulty understanding anything you only need to ask back to get it explained. This is much better than just ignoring advice as though the helper isn't there.

Make sure to install all of the updates including Optional. Did it deliver any drivers yet? Are there any missing in Device Manager after updates are complete?

I'm updating now with 26 new updates, the optional ones. I'll report back

EDIT: Every update downloaded :)

Since it seems you have a problem attending to details...

How is performance overall?

You can mark the Thread solved at top when ready.

As I've already said, it's fine now. The performance is awesome as always. I found old files on the computer today though, but I deleted it all because well, I want a more clean system in my stuff. I have no idea what device manager is.

Device Manager lists all your hardware and their driver state and is one of the first places to look when troubleshooting driver problems.

Having a blase attitude when things are running well is not a problem, but the more you can learn about Windows the better-equipped you are when things start to go wrong. :)
