Firefox is better if you like add ons, but Chrome is definitely faster, and has it's share of add ons, so I'd say Chrome wins overall.

For me it's noticeable, but not by that much. Except in startup, Chrome blows FF out of the water for me on startup.

Chrome certainly starts faster and feels faster if you don't have too many add-ins. The big downside of Chrome is the memory it uses when you have a number of add-ins and tabs open. Each add-in, plugin and tab has its own process and shares very little. This is good for speed, security and recovery from crashes(very few even on beta or dev) but poor for memory use.

I use Chrome almost exclusively because of the sync utility that ensures my bookmarks and browser bar follow me where ever I go. I used to use FF as I used lots of add-ons, but felt that overall they deteriorated my browsing experience, so I stopped plugging up my browser with the add-ons and just went with 3rd party utils for the stuff I really needed to do.
Overall, Chrome does use more memory, but will 4GB of 8GB of RAM, I have tons extra to spare..so no big deal at all.
