I've installed drivers manually as in instruction, but controller doesn't sync![]()
Did you press the button near the battery pack?
Are your batteries new?

Yes, I've installed new batteries (and tested few of them to be sure). When I press the button near the battery pack the lights around "big X" start to "rotate". The same time I press the button on receiver, and the light here starts to blink. But few seconds later the lights on controller starts to blink together, light on receiver permanently turned on, and nothing happend more![]()
Do you know if your Xbox 360 Wireless is a clone, or an original. I have heard from some that could make a difference.
Do you have another USB to try?
Unfortunately none of the solutions in this thread worked for me. I’m using Windows 7 64-Bit with the generic Xbox 360 Wireless Receiver.
I was able to install the driver manually, and the receiver now appears in Device Manager under 'Microsoft Common Controller for Windows Class’ as ‘Xbox 360 Wireless Receiver for Windows’. I’m also able to connect my wireless controller to the receiver, and the player 1 light on the controller lights up and stays lit.
However, my computer does not get any input from the controller and does not recognize that the controller is connected. Anyone have any ideas for a fix?
Yes, that is what I mean. The controller lights up as if it was connected, but doesn't actually make a connection to the pc.Unfortunately none of the solutions in this thread worked for me. I’m using Windows 7 64-Bit with the generic Xbox 360 Wireless Receiver.

YOu mean if you go to 'Devices and Printers' you don't see the 'Xbox 360 Wireless Controller'?
It should show up there when connected.
Ok I am not sure what is going on there. Maybe try another USB port, or try reinstalling again.
Also for some check out post #65 for more tips, or here

I own both the white original reciever as well as the new black combo and neither required a driver disc.
Windows saw the hardware and installed the required drivers automatically.
This is the black one I ordered,

I've tried multiple usb ports and I've done a full uninstall/reinstall of the drivers probably more than a dozen times by now. I even took the steps in post #65 a bit further, editing the xusb21.inf file in the win7 driver to add the proper VENDOR_ID for the black knockoff receiver.
The existing ID in this file is for the MS official hardware (0719), and since the knockoff has a different ID (0291) Windows reads the driver as being incompatible with the device, which is why Windows fails to install the driver automatically when you plug it in. Editing the xusb21.inf file fixes this issue, but as the drivers don't seem to actually function with the receiver it's a bit of a pointless fix IMO.
Can anyone who has the knockoff Xbox 360 Wireless Receiver working on Windows 7 64-bit (the knockoff does NOT have any MS branding on it, and has a sticker reading 'XBHD' on the back) post a usb log file for me to take a look at? I'd generate the usb log file myself, but since the driver doesn't work for my device I get no output - an empty file.
Using any freeware USB Sniffer software (i.e. SnoopyPro) a user can see the data exchanged between a USB device and the driver software, and export that data as a usb log file.
Using this data, one can reverse engineer the existing driver and write their own customized driver for the device. Since that's really the only viable option I see available to myself at this point, I figure I may as well give it a shot.
Hi, I had the same issue with a "XBHD" Wireless Receiver.
Found the answer on a few websites:
Step 1: download Software Downloads: Xbox 360 Wireless Controller for Windows
Step 2:
Right click on Computer
Go to Properties
Click on Device Manager
Right click on the Unidentified Device
Then sync as normal
Hope this helps you as it helped me!
