650W PSU? is that going to be enough to make that beast of a video card move? a couple of years ago people were going with 1000w PSU and now I see more and more people with small PSUs... am I missing something?

A 650w is enough, he's not doing sli, nvdia recommends Minimum of a 550 Watt power supply. (Minimum recommended power supply with +12 Volt current rating of 38 Amps.)

Just depends on the PSU.

Its all about efficiency and how well it holds up to stress and heat.

For example a 500W high quality PSU may perform flawlessly where as a cheaper 1000W might blow up on you under heavy load/heat conditions.

1000W may seem like a bigger PSU than the 500W, but wattage doesnt always tell the entire story.

Video cards are so much more efficient these days, and do not require crazy amounts of power to run. A good 650-750 watt 80+ Gold should run anything you can throw at it, except multiple, high-end video cards.

thats correct, the psu calculator told me that 520w recommended, and 470w minimum. so it should be enough =) thanks for answers ppl, i ordered bf3 & euro truck simulator 2 today! should be funny, only fps game i have tried on pc is counter strike because im a console gamer growing tired of max 12 vs 12 so looking forward to try bf3 on pc...
