Im Having two issues with windows 7 , the first is that when i change a folder to be ordered in the date it was modified another folder changes to that setting when i had it to be ordered by name, or also when i change the way it looks (list, details, etc).

And the other its something that i got accustom with vista that when i put the folder in the date that was modified, the files where on top and the folders inside the folder where on the bottom it sounds kinda lame but i kinda like it :p, if anyone could lend me hand that would be great, Thanks in Advance.

Folders in a window can all be ordered by date or by name (or some others as well) but not both at the same time.

What you are seeing is ordering by ascending vs descending. Click the bar at the top of the window and the files inside will reverse.

Well what i was trying to say about the first point, Is that i Have to diferent Folder one being My Documents and inside my documents i have another folder witch itself has files, and my Documents i want to order it by name and the other folder by modified date but the two keep having the same setting and in vista i could have both with different settings.

And about the other point even if i change ascending or descending the folders are still on top even when i change ascending and descending in type , and that didn't happen in vista thanks for your reply, im sorry if i cant explain myself :p .

I am on 7.64.16385 - I do not have the same result. I can sort files and folders the way you want to. When I sort, the sort does not pass through to sub-folders. What build are you on?

The thing its that i just entered my documents trough my computer and not trough my library and i can put the files on top of folders and make the changes of name and modified date weird  .

So youre saying that when you access a folder trough "libraries" you can order the files on top of the folders and of course have different folders under different settings " name, modified date" ?

im sorry if i cant explain myself .
Actually, your explanation was excellent. What I have discovered is that in the "Documents" there is a unique setting. Whereas other folders behaved as I described, here is an image of my "Documents" folder that shows:

when arranged by folder, the folders appear and files will always appear under them. When arranged by "Name" for example, only files are visible. Cool Huh?

Nice find!

I think this is the first thing that i dont like about windows 7 "Libraries" :( well i just got tired figuring out how to change the folders, and instead i put a shortcut of my documents in my desktop because My documents behaves differently in "Libraries" well i guess im gonna have to get use to it.

Guys another question is it possible to rearrange files or folder inside a folder , you know put them in whatever order you want?

Sorta. Start with the "C" drive, find "Users", then your user folder, then your My Docs folder. Drag and drop the folder onto the taskbar. You will now have a menu entry to go directly to your "My Docs". Right ckick on the start menu and click on "My Docs"?

Like one can arrange Icons on the desktop? No, not that I know of. Others have mentioned this before.

Is that the bad thing in "Libraries" is that two folders cannot be viewed in two diferent ways ( name, modified date, type) at the same time .

I may not be following the question exactly but part of the issue might be that a LIBRARY is not a FOLDER and does not behave the same. Within a Library (a collection of FOLDERS at different locations) the Sort/View Options apply to the entire Library (all Folders).

Arranging by Folder basically lists all the Folders included in the Library and the Files in each Folder, sorted by Folder>File Name. Pretty standard.

Arranging by Name sorts ALL Files in ALL of the Library's Folders by Name. You can click on VIEW>Choose Details and select the Folder, Folder Name or Folder Path columns to display each of the Files respective Folders.

So I don't think a Library view can do exactly what you would like. But it could be handy in finding duplicate Filenames in multiple Folders for example.

I hope this helps a little.
