BSOD - IRQL not less or equal, Page fault, Memory Management, etc.

I am now on a combination of slots 2 and 4.. I'm getting second thoughts about whether i am not able to put all 4 sticks in and let it work..
anyway, as you said i am now in dual channel mode..
but uhhm.. I have left a blue and a green RAM card..
I opened my little brother's PC (holy shit have never seen so much dust before, LAYERS i tell you.) anyway, as he was whining about minecraft being slow (which isnt so demanding so thats why i thought it was odd), i also checked his ram, he appears to have 2x1GB ram, and a 2GB green ram card, which might be identical to the one laying here..
so 2x apacher and 2x hyundai might be an option, so the colors are identical and so are the cards?

I am now still on slots 2 and 4, i tried putting ram sticks in slots 1 or 3(+ 2 and 4) but that resulted in restarting of my computer..
so i tried to put them all inside.. the hyundai cards on slot 1(white),2,3(white) and the apacher one on slot 4(black)
I was cheered up because it went past the windows is loading thing.. but after it finished 'welcome' it gave me a BSOD saying: Reference by pointer

Here the dmp file, hopefully you are able to indicate what's wrong.

:/ so I'm not sure whats broken..
all ram cards work, a black slot MUST be filled in order to let the PC boot.. but if black and white are used in a combination, its a disaster..

It might have been lost in my verbiage.

You have the wrong memory for your machine.

See if the store/website will replace the memory with correct sticks

Crucial Scan your system to view your specific system configuration.

And here's what Crucial says for a Acer Aspire M7811 Desktop/PC.
icon_detail.gif

Memory Type: DDR3 PC3-8500, DDR3 PC3-12800, DDR3 PC3-10600, DDR3 (non-ECC)
Maximum Memory: 8GB
Slots: 4
Each memory slot can hold DDR3 PC3-8500, DDR3 PC3-12800, DDR3 PC3-10600 with a maximum of 2GB per slot.

There is no reference to PC3-10700 (667 MHz)

I also noticed on my own machine that Speccy apperantly has a bug when reporting memory. I have two slots - it reports 1. The actual memory reported is correct.

I'm beginning to distrust Speccy reports on your machine. Post #35 - says you have 3 Hyundai sticks. This might not be the fault of Speccy, but a manifestation of the issue on your machine.

Could you post a msinfo32 for me? You'll have to compressed in a zip folder to attach it on a post - thanks.

As far as your memory working before, possible, but you are getting BSODs.

Get the correct memory, put it in the same colored slots - one pair at a time to test. Make sure they are firmly placed in the slot.

Unitl the memory is of the correct type, there's not a whole that van be done.

Run with just the single PC3-8500F (533 MHz) - Apacer until you pair that one or buy a set of four matched sticks.

I wasn't exactly clear when I psoted before, although I did say that the memory was mismatched and of the wrong type. Sorry it took me a while to clear that up.

Replace the Hyundai memory with mobo matched type
run with only mobo matched Apacer until correctly paired
How you want to pair them is up to you
a) 1 additional Apacer
b) 3 additional Apacer
c) 4 new faster sticks

edit: You are powering down, disconnecting the power cord, and dissipating any static eletricity before chaning hardware - right?

oh sh!t... I usually do not plug out the power cord... i did once but today i forgot about it..
and uhhm, I doubt a store/website will replace my used, not bought at their store ram cards without charging >.>

I am currently running with the PC-3 10700 and the PC3-8500F, 4 gigabyte.. dual channel and my computer is working fine.. more laggy than before, running BF3 with 85% usage of my memory, okay its unfortunate but working... for now..
so you are suggesting me to buy new PC-3 8500 Apacer ram cards? If so, I'll have them (if fortunate) by christmas..

oh and I attached the ms32info to the post.

Thanks for helping, more suggestions are always appreciated.

I only use the Crucial site as a reference - you can purchase memory from any manufacturer/vendor as long as they are correct for your machine.

Since you got this machine second hand, you might consider a clean install once you straighten out the memry issue.

Here's what I suggested:
Remove the 10700 sticks
run with the one PC3-8500 stick until you can buy matched pairs that are compatible with your machine

Use Cruical as a guide (they have help on installing too). You can sort the reference page by price - go high to low so you see the 2GB x 2 pairs first. I don't think you're interested in 1GB x 2 (they show up first if sorted by price low to high)

Buy the fastest memory that is compatible with your machine and fits your budget. That's about it.

You might ask the store where you originally purchased the 10700 about their return policy - who knows, it might save you some money.

re: Power -Always disconect all power and discharge any remaining charge BEFORE working on hardware.

Power down, pull the power cord and hold the power button down for at least 30 seconds.
Touch a metal part of the chasis to discharge any static on your body every time you remove or install a component. Technicians use a strap clipped to the chasis to free their hands.

Thanks for the msinfo - I'll take a look

Could you attach the raw .nfo file from msinfo (just save, not save as) - I don't read Dutch.

When you say - clean up your PC, what exactly are you going to clean? There's a lot on there - games, tools (suspect some might cause your machine problems.

I'll tell you what, fix the memory issue first and then figure out what to do next. We're not getting anywhere this way. The Optimize Windows tutorial might help "cleaning up".

I'm out of other suggestions until you fix the memory issue.

Maybe you haven't read, but this pc is second hand, I have NO clue at all where this PC or the ram has been bought, have no manual nothing... it was inherited from my uncle.

but I'll probably just reformat the drive, reinstall windows, reinstall all neccesary drivers and only install the games that I play often.. but just not now..

about the memory issue, it's going to take a while, atleast a month for sure...
Since it hasn't really been solved, I won't mark it as solved, I will reply in a month whether the new ram cards worked or not..

Ok, thanks - I thought you installed the ram, now I understand it came with the 2nd hand machine. It's better to have all four sticks the same - just make certain you get the correct memory.

Leave the thread open, but don't expect anyone to respond unitl you fix the memory, Ok?

For reference:
Today's DDR3-1333 has a peak bandwidth of 10666 MHz, which can be improperly rounded down and called PC3-10600, rounded up to be called PC3-10700 or stated without rounding as PC3-10666 depending on the manufacturer's desires.

Hyundai RAM is used in OEM computers, they are just naming it 10700 when most others call it 10600, it's the same RAM.
I would stay with the Hyundai RAM, they came with the computer originally.
Remove the Apacer RAM and run Two Hyundai RAM cards until you can get new RAM. It will run at 1333MHz instead of the Apacer (value RAM) causing it to run at 1066MHz.

As Slartybart mentioned, it's better to have the same brand and frequency/timings RAM.

Let us know when you get the RAM set up correctly.

Thanks Dave. I did not know that. I agree with you now that you've cleared up the 10700 identification for me. It's interesting that the reference says "improperly" rounded down - I suppose proper rounding would be up since the bandwidth is higher than the midpoint (10649).

Anyway thanks, as if it's not confusing enough for the consumer and technophile - you need a degree in mathematics to figure out what memory your machine requires =:> Most stores / sites will tell you the correct memory as long as you identify your machine.

So, the rec is
remove the single Apacer PC3-8500F
keep the pair of Hyundai PC3-10700 - installed in slots 1 & 3.
--> If 1 & 3 beep or otherwise cause issues, install in 2 & 4. Always pair the memory and install in the correct dual channel slots.

Your memory will run at higher speeds - thus a net gain. It's not clear that the Apacer memory is being seen anyway - Speccy and CPU-Z see it, but you stated in post #7, that the system only see 4GB when 3 sticks are installed. There have been many changes (memory installed, memory removed) that I think the best thing to do is staick with one configuration and run that way for a while.

Now that I reveiwed the thread , I see that you originally started with 8GB (2GB x 4) For historical purposes, was the stick you removed back in post 2,3, or 4 another Apacer? Dave's comment on what was installed on the machine is why I ask - it's possible that a pair of economy sticks were part of the OEM. This is not an important question, just one of curiosity.

Furthermore if OP buys more RAM, either a pair of 10600 or a pair of 10700 will match - I think that's a correct recommendation based on Dave's reference.

It will run at 1333MHz instead of the Apacer (value RAM) causing it to run at 1066MHz.....

Uhhm, I've seen this before in this thread, but why are you saying the ram cards are > 1000 mhz?
speccy shows this:
slot 1
Max Bandwidth PC3-10700 (667 MHz)
slot 2
Max Bandwidth PC3-8500F (533 MHz)
^ I know this is still the apacher one, haven't read bart's post yet, changing now..

But as you can see, it shows me 533 mhz and 667 mhz, but you're mentioning double that speed, 1066 and 1333 MHz

so just to be clear:
I will install 2x2GB (hyundai) identical ram cards in slots 2 and 4, leaving slots 1 and 3 open (white),
I will then proceed to use my computer on normal wise, cleaning it too..
As far as I tested yesterday, games are working how they should, maybe 1-2 FPS drop and some more (tiny) freezings.. but that's not a problem to me.

All I got left is one question, what cards do I need to buy, or do I just ask an employee to identify it?

I really appreciate all the help that has been given to me by several members, I learned alot
(e.g. Don't change hardware when power still plugged xD), and I hope this issue will be fixed once I buy new ram cards.

Uhhm, I've seen this before in this thread, but why are you saying the ram cards are > 1000 mhz?
This is what Dave and I agree is the best for now. Cleaning is always good - be careful, dust carries static. A few shots of compressed air (any computer store) is safest way.

See Dave's post and read the link for some general guidance. You can always ask the store personnel, be aware that they are sales people and might steer you to the more expensive items. This is an older machine and might not justify the higher cost of "super" memory. You at least want to match the two sticks you have, higher sppeds won't add much - see some post elsewhere on this thread that describes how the mobo uses the lower speed of unmatched speeds

DDR is Double Data Rate, if the RAM is 533MHz the rate that you actually get to use is double, 1066MHz.

That is the correct cards and slots.

I recommend Crucial, their RAM is guaranteed to run in OEM computers, many have good success with them.
