Okay. I've ran Prime95 for a few hours, (normally it would lock multiple times an hour), and then it apparently stopped running unknowingly. I was surfing away, listening to music, then my computer locked up at 2:52 AM EST. When it locked I was like wtf, but then I realized that Prime95 must have finished it's task. I loged back in at 2:55 and fired up F@H.

What I'm getting at is that there seems to be an issue with the system being at 5% throttle. As I've been able to reproduce this after running Prime95. From what I can tell it only effects some multicore processors, but I'm not entirely sure at this point, we need to wait for confirmation about this from windew420.

@Dave: My power setting shows that the minimum usage is set to 5%. I'm currently running Prime95 to see if it has the same effect as F@H. Also, F@H was set to 100% usage.

@zigzag: I'll turn down F@H to 80% if I have to run it to keep my computer stable.

@squonksc: That seems to be the theory it's evolved into, so if it turns out to be true, then we have a slight problem possibly.

@windew: Prime 95 does run on Windows 7, in fact I'm running it right now. There is also a 64Bit edition as well.

@Diablofan - Turn the 5% CPU up to 100% and do not run Prime95 or F@H and see how the PC behaves

Ok, I set it to 100% to see how it runs, I then restarted my computer in order to make sure it does use the 100% setting right from the beginning. I also have made sure that F@H and Prime95 aren't running.

it might be a that a stepping in your cpu might not be getting enough voltage...;)
try throttling F@H until it locks up...
that would be the steeping that is freezing under (most likely the lowest stepping)...
i dont know if your intel chipsets allow for different stepping voltages (from the default) but it is possible in AMD's chips...
like people said you may want to up the voltages little by little (but dont go too far)
until you see the problem going away (i believe its the Vcore that need to be changed but dont quote me on that..;))

Your problem appears to be solved.

Prime95 is heating up your machine because, in this application (use of the technology), that is what it does.

Doc, it hurts when I do this.
Don't do that.

So far it's running good, *knocks on wood*, lets hope for the best. Although usually by now, it would have locked up about 15 or more times by now...

If you don't mind windew420, do you mind testing something else. Can you do as Dave said for me to do and change the Minimum CPU State to 100% and see if that produces a result like Prime95, minus the heat issue?

Okay, here's where that setting is:

Control Panel -> Hardware and Sound -> Power Options -> Select the link called Change Plan Settings next to your currently active plan -> Change advanced power settings -> Processor power management -> Minimum processor state

Odd, but oh well. Switched to balanced run ti normally, not Prime95 or anything , and see if your computer locks up.
