I hate single cores, but I'd suggest trying out 64-bit and seeing how it feels, if you don't like it just go back to 32-bit. Honestly even with a 64-bit CPU, its a single core which means it will fill up easier.

I think the fact that it's an AMD 64 processor should alone be enough to identify it as 64-bit.

Its been a long day for both Ken (Zig) and myself, so its easy to miss the slightest thing. :)

Now that my esteemed colleagues have determined that you have the choice, the question remains.

I offer this reminder only in deferrence to SF members who often make plausible arguments for maintaining a 32-bit OS.

I count myself, with present company, in that number who would reply - by all means, run the 64-bit version.

After verifying the availability of 64-bit drivers.

Yes you can run 64 bit xD :),

(off topic- is calling someone uneducated considered an insult? Because he did worse, got a warning... Well sorry if I offended anyone :S ma bad

Well, you could run either 32 or 64. As long as you have the drivers for everything, I would go 64-bit. But if something doesn't have a driver, don't sweat it and just run 32-bit. It will likely only use 3.2GB of your RAM or so....so as long as that isn't critical it shouldn't be an issue.

i've personally never felt that the 64-bit platform was really noticeable faster. Having run both 32 and 64 bit's on the same machine for testing, they seem the same to me doing most normal things.

I personally would consider it a put-down, not really an insult unless the other person wants to take it as one, which means if they did take it as an insult they likely ARE uneducated. =)

Back to the topic.

I still say the thread author should just try out 64-bit. It could just be bad luck for me but single-core with x64 was murder. Then again it was with Vista XD
