Creating Partition For Dual Boot XPPro?

Hello All:
I just created a new partition in Win7 disk management(second partition on one sata drive). The C: partition reads Healthy(Boot, Page File, Crash Dump, Primary Partition). The one I had just created is Healthy(Primary Partition). I also just slipstreamed an XPPro SP3 cd. Running the xppro cd goes fine. The issue is that when it gets to asking what partition to throw xp on, it won't show the newly created partition from win7. The new partition was formatted as ntfs(through disk management) and xp setup only will say 131000 MB and not my separate partition. I don't want to take out my win7. Any thoughts? Many Thanks.

Don

That`s strange, the XP install should be showing the partition you made , no problem.

Can you post a shot of disk management from 7 ?

And you`re not seeing G during the install, but you can see C ? And C is the same size as your pic ?

Maybe you could turn it into unallocated space and retry.

That`s an odd one

I do see C (which lists the space as 131,000+), but no G

Well 139 GBs is 142,336 MBs so something`s not right.

You have read up on what you have to do to get W7 booting again after you`ve installed XP haven`t you ?

Have you deleted the 9 gig partition and tried the install again ?

But you should only have to run it once.

Make your startup repair disc from Windows 7 now, if you don`t own a Windows 7 installation disc. You only need a blank cd.

Ok, I know the source of the problem, but don't know content of what within the source is in fact the issue. A few years back I slipstreamed sp2 into an xp cd. I have been trying my newly created slipstreamed xpsp3 and xp install would not see my new partition. So I popped in my(I know works) slipstreamed xpsp2 cd that I made in the past and "VIOLA", it saw the newly created drive. So now how do I find out what was the issue with the sp3 cd? I'm lost because I want the xpsp3.

You just need to get ahold of a SP3 disc.
