Problem with windows 7 : Access is denied!

Hello,

Yesterday i went to my friend's house with my pc for lan.When i came back and reconnected my pc on my home i got this msg on my local disk : C:/ is not accessible.Access is denied.After some googling i found this:

- boot with F8, go to the domain controller restore mode. (not sure what the exact name is.)
- Log in
- start regedit
- goto HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies
  Find EnableLUA and set it to 0
  Find ConsentPromptBehaviorAdmin and set it to 0.
restart your pc.
- Now start MMC
- add the snapin Computer Management
- goto storage -> diskmanagement
- rightclick your windows partition and click properties
- goto security
- click advanced
- goto owner
- click edit
- select the owner (in my case i used my personal account who is administrator)
- click mutlipe times op ok.
- close MMC
- reboot pc
- log in normally
- start regedit
- restore uac settings EnableLUA = 1   and ConsentPromptBehaviorAdmin = 3.

I tried it but nothing happen..Also i can't copy/paste files or install/uninstall.With other words i can't do anything on my own pc.
Please Help me!!!

Wow, that must be aggravating! I would ask if you are able to do a "Restore Point" to a day before you visited your friend? Other than that, there is not much more anyone can suggest until we know a little more about your computer specs? Internet? Cable? Friends Internet? How many user accounts did you setup? How many are "Administrator" and how many are 'User?" Add more info and someone will be glad to try to help out.

I too am running 7100 x64. Look at the "My System Specs" link at the bottom left of my post and get an idea of the info needed to assist people with their issues. Once added there it doesn't need to be typed along with each question.

IMPORTANT LESSON LEARNED HERE: barbarian, as far back as XP, MS recommended daily use of, and especially Internet surfing, the computer should be done with a "User Account". For myself, when I install a new OS (like when I did 7) I make the first user account (the default administrator account) named "Admin". I finish the setup process and then add a "User" account (and one for me mate ) and possibly another "Administrator" account, but I do not use the "Admin" account for daily activities. That way if one user account has a problem, like what you have described, I can login with the Admin account and fix it, hopefully. As you only have the one "Administrator" account, that limits what you can do. I sincerly hope, in a very kind way, that this lesson is not lost on you, or any of the 1000s of other computer users.

Possibilities:

Boot into safe mode and see if you can login and repair what I ... 'assume' (?) ... is a permission issue between your "user account" and access to your hard drive.

Use the 7 DVD and do a repair OS.

Reinstall 7 by the "upgrade" path and 7 will save all your data on a folder named "Windows.old" so you don't loose it.

Boot to your 7 DVD and select "Install now".

I believe it is the next screen, I don't have a screen shot of it, you have two choices: Upgrade or Custom. Custom does the "clean" install and Upgrade will also reinstall 7 but will save your files into a folder named "Windows.old" on your C: drive when finished. So select "Upgrade" and install much like you did the first time.

You can check the MS site but I believe they turned off the download August 20. I would recommend strongly you find a friend that has an authentic copy of the RC build 7100 and burn a copy for yourself. You may need it again. There are other ways to download software but I will not discuss the topic at all here at Windows Seven Forums so don't ask.

Until you can get a copy of the 7 DVD look at these suggestions:

no i am done with delete windows.old
but now my local hard drive C: is changed to ntfs.. which let me not open any thing in C: nor install nor update.. all functions relational to C: are not working.. I mean error says "C: is not accessible"
