Deleted both my music folders

Deleted both my music folders, one in libraries, under music folder, the other in favorites. Nothing I googled seems to deal with deleting and restoring both. I do not have a restore point, or backup, just a factory restore usb. How can I restore both folders?.

Right click the Favorites listing and click on Restore Favorites links,
Right the Libraries listing and click on Restore default libraries.
You can also Click the start button and click on your User name listed near the top and right click the My Music folder and click on Restore previous version and see if any restore points are listed,
You might see if your music is in the My Music folder first,
Deleting a Library or under Favorites (Public Music) does not delete the files just the shortcuts to the My Music folder,
Right click My Music and click on Add to Library/ Music.

Actually I tried the restore option before posting, no luck folders are not restoring.

Hello Henry,

Double check to see if you still have your "C:\Users\(username)\My Music" folder.

If you don't, then you could use OPTION TWO in the tutorial below to restore it and hopefully the others as well. If the others don't restore, then you should be able to manually include the folder back into the library, and add under Favorites.

Have you tried this path
C:\Users\[Your Name]\My Music
What's in this folder? If you can't see the folder have a look in your Recycle bin!

Edit Sorry Brink, crossed but I think the OP has lost his Music folder not Pictures!

No my music is in c:\users\usename\my Music because I deleted it.. This is my issue how to restore it or make a new my music folder, which by the way manually creating music folder is not the same type of folder.

Was that "not in" your folder, or still in your folder?

If your My Music folder is no longer in your user folder, then what I posted above will restore it.

If you deleted your folder look in your Recycle bin to see if it is in there!

No Recycle is set to delete. Brink, option 2 I tried restore my music.reg to no avail. Also incude library restore, only restores public music, which I do not use.

Did you do all of OPTION TWO? It will not work unless you do all of the steps in it.

I am getting confused! Have you lost all your actual Music files? Why is your Recycle Bin set to delete?

Ok everybody, sorry I was gone so long. I don't know how exactly how I deleted "my music" folder, but I do know this, I was dual booting windows 7 with linux. Specifically I was testing fedora 19 beta rc4. Apparently while copying windows files over to fedora, Documents, that is, I saw what looked like shortcuts to all my other libraries in the documents folder in fedora. Well being a neat freak and suffering from ocd I panicked and deleted the "my music shortcut". Then I went and rebooted windows to make sure I was ok, but I was not. I guess this is why there is nothing in recycle bin, which was is linked to cc cleaner and cleaned every reboot anyway. Anyway I am not to worried about it I keep all my documents, music, pictures and video files on flash drives, nothing is copied to the hdd. I merely pop in usb and do whatever, save and remove drive. As for recovering my music folder I simply used my windows 8 upgrade flash drive and installed windows 8. Thanks for all your responses, you were are all very helpful. The one thing I did learn is how despite windows 7 being very stable for everyday use, a simple delete caused a firestorm, Yes I know, I do have a backup policy...If it breaks fresh install, or upgrade to windows 8.

Oh, the reason for upgrading to windows 8 is simple. All I have is windows 7 recovery media, didn't feel like going back to factory restore and doing years of updates.

Installing 7 and all the updates takes less then an hour.

The three recovery dvd's alone take 3-4 hours to get it up and running, at least with my hp system, and that's with a broadband connection.

and we know that you cannot create a Location in Windows 7 Libraries to a USB Memory Stick, Memory Card, CD or DVD then it begs the question of what location points you had in the Music Library folder in the first place?
Also when you say

Why would you want to re install all the HP bloatware rubbish that does nothing more than interfere with the smooth running pf Windows 7 when a little bit of research on this Forum would reveal the numerous times the "Clean Install of Windows 7" is recommended. Look here:

Do that and when your system is running to perfection use Macrium Reflect to create an image backup and a bootable CD then in the future when you need to re install Win7 just use the backup and you will be back to a perfect system in 20 minutes.

I believe this to be an oversight on MS's part. IMO, it should not be allowed, or very much frowned upon (read: make them read only)... any folders that are provided by the OS manufacturer for the user, which would definitely include any type of document type folders. Many users and programs count on the standard:
Documents | Pictures
Documents | Videos
Documents | Music
structure to be there. It's kinda ludicrous that they are deletable, or movable.

I once moved my Music folder into a different document folder, by the slip of the mouse. I was appalled that - that could happen. Not that I use them that much, I just thought that those folders were 'given', and standard as part of the OS.
