Well the main thing about all this is that the entire concept behind what went into 8 is focused on Tablet! What MS is doing with Blue is trying to find a compromise between Surface and desktop users running 8 so they are not completely stuck with a Surface Tablet gui to work with but even on tablet for new tablet users have some type of familiar grounds to start with.
The main problem however is similar to why Vista got a bad rap at first when MS failed to raise things to the actual minimum system specs required appeasing OEMs who didn't want to budge over shipping pcs with more then 512mb! 2-3gb was the max for most boards at the time with some making it to the 4gb top. Vista like 7 however needed to see the 2gb for x86 and 2.5+gb for x64 stated from the start!
With 8 MS failed from the start by not specifying 8 was geared for Tablet consumpsion while still providing a desktop release as well for each edition. They simply tossed 8 out at everyone as if they had been saying "take it like it is or else!" without regard to the negative reactions of it being seen as another "FLOP CITY" until the marketing results were in. "Oops we slipped! Have to clean this up fast somehow!"
