You could get the same functions of a System repair disc from the Windows 7 installation disc . Here is the ISO for the Windows 7 Pro 64 bit SP1 below

No I haven't tried that. I do have 7zip, but it won't solve my real problem, which is creating discs. It must be connected to the original error message that I began with.

You mentioned not having a burner program earlier but win 7 does come with a functional burner.

That being said, either of the programs offered are useful tools but I don't think they will help with this.

I just made a system repair disc on my computer and it used windows built in imaging program,

I have ImgBurn installed also and there is no option to use another program.

I think windows is unable to find the files to create the system repair disc, and your next best

option is to burn the install ISO to a DVD and use it's repair function.

Are you trying to create the repair disc for a certain problem that has come up or just being wise and doing it ahead of any trouble?

What made you think the error is related to outlook in your first post?

I'm just trying to think ahead and be prepared. The first error code popped up when I clicked on "create disc" from the system restore/backup option. As it stands now, my drive will not read any new DVD-R I put in to try and create a disc--it says, "no disc."

Does it still play DVD's?

I just put a DVD movie in, and it does work...

Yes it plays DVD's. I have the ISO for Windows 7 in my backup drive, wouldn't that work for your USB plan? However, I would still like to have burning resources that work.

Fixit says my discs are not writable. I have a 10 pac of memorex DVD-R. Maybe all of them are bad. I have some different DVD's in storage, I'll get them later today.

I installed it. I had to borrow Windows 7 64-bit from the guy (dealer) that I recently bought the computer from, because my copy of 7 is 32-bit. Then I inserted my key in the OS. The computer came with no OS in it, because I thought I could put in my copy of 7--he supposedly gave me a 30.00 discount for that; it didn't work anyway.

It is usually a precursor for other drivers to be installed.
