Hello, posting here in the hopes that I can finally get this problem that has been going on for months fixed.

We have 2 computers in the home, one in the living room and one in my bedroom. Both of these up until recently ran on windows XP and the decision was made to upgrade to 7, which I'm starting to regret as I've had nothing but problems since doing so. But could be just me being an idiot and missing something completely obvious.

Anyway, since the upgrade I've had problems connecting to my wireless router via the PC in my bedroom. Every few days I have to rest my router to get it to connect. I keep getting the error 'Wireless Network Connection, does not have a valid IP configuration' and today I get told that there is a problem with my wireless adapter or access point. It will connect sometimes and keeps the connection for a dew days before coming up with the same error. I never had a problem connecting before the upgrade and anything else I try to connect to the router works completely fine.

The PC in the living room will not connect at all wirelessly but will via an Ethernet cable on windows 7. Seeing as this PCs hard drive is split, it also runs XP and will connect perfectly fine via the wireless when running XP. Not too concerned about this PC right now as we can get a steady connection Via the cable. But the PC in my bedroom is driving me mad.

Router: N300 wirless ADSL2+ Modem Router - Model: DGN 2200
Wireless Adapter: TP-LINK WN751ND
OS: 64bit

Not sure what other info you will need to be able to help, but I'd be happy to add any extra information needed. Though I'm not very computer literate which is why I'm inclined to believe it's me being a bit a bit of a div and not able to work it out for myself.

I have searched for solutions to my problem but everything I've tried so far does not work, and I've tried quite a few different methods.

Have you tried to update the firmware on this router? I only see two different firmware's showing up for this router but the latest one should work with Windows 7. The 1.0.0.36 is the latest version.

You should also set the router up to use WPA-2 security with AES encryption with Windows 7 drivers.

DGN2200v1

If the latest firmware doesn't improve the situation please post a screen shot of the ipconfig/all from the machine having the problems. :)

Hey, thanks for the reply.

when I log into the router it tells me all my firmware is up to date. I tired updating it though anyway, via the link you provided and restarted the computer, but it doesn't seem to have helped.

It's also already set at WPA 2 security and with and AES encryption.

I'm not seeing any problems with the ipconfig.

Assuming you have the latest TP link drivers installed what kind of signal strength do you have with this connection?

Have you tried moving closer to the router to test the connection with a stronger signal.

I'm seeing many similar complaints in the reviews for this router at Amazon.

Usually the signal sticks at 4 bars, but lately it's been switching between 2-3. I have tried moving the router closer just to check if it helps the issue, but I saw no changes in signal strength. I have had the router for a few years now and not had any problems until now, but it may be time to get a new one and see if that would fix the issue.

Yes that router has many reported problems although before changing it out I would recommend trying the 30-30-30 reset option.
