How to configure Taskbar for detailed popups?

I recently had to re-install my Windows 7 Home Premium. I have a number of application icons pinned to my Taskbar. It used to be that when I right-clicked on one of them, I'd get a detailed popup menu that listed, among other things, the last few documents I had used for that app. For IE and Chrome, I'd get the most commonly visited sites. Now, after the re-installation, the popups are very small, listing only the application and an option to unpin it from the Taskbar or close it. How do I configure Windows so that I get the more detailed popups, again?

Perhaps you'll need to create the history before it will show in the Jump Lists?

So, let me try to clarify: Britton30 suggested building up a history. That's not the issue. I have some history already that it does not display. Also, the more detailed popup menus I used to have more than just history in them as I mentioned.

I never have paid any attention to that menu until now. We got new computers at work about ten days ago so everything was a fresh install as far as the browser goes (Firefox). I did not configure anything but just have right clicked on the taskbar icons and I do get a history as you are talking about. I just thought I would let you know that it is working for me and I did not do anything.

Hi I believe the taskbar and start menu use the same number of items number,
To test pin a few items to the start menu and see if there's a difference in how many appear on the jump list there,

It's set at zero, but even if I increase it, it doesn't help. That's because it's a property of the Start Menu and not the Taskbar.

Just to clear up some confusion, what you call popups are jumplists.

Thanks. I just noticed that I was in the wrong place when I tried to increase the setting ThrashZone had suggested. But the correct one (Start Menu properties, Customize) is disabled! So, to be clear: When I go to the Customize screen of the Start Menu, there are two spinner controls at the bottom under a section called "Start menu size". The two are disabled! They are called "Number of recent programs to display," and "Number of recent items to display in Jump Lists." Both are zero and disabled. So, the question is, What would cause them to be disabled?...

Thanks. Unfortunately, changing the setting of items to list didn't help, as mentioned above. Still stuck.

Were both Privacy boxes checked to enable the feature ?
