1TWD external hard disk unknown,not initialized,unallocated,i/o error

This quick new hard disk. So sad I cant access it anymore? why this happen?

You can see from the photo MY computer cant even see this driver anymore, so I check on the
- Disk management it said unknown no driver letter too ,Not initialized.
-Click Initialized it said i/o device error

I have try uninstall the device and restart let it install again still the same.
Checking many thread have the same problem, I wonder anyone solve this kind of problem before?

Update the possible cause of it, I believe my external hard disk spoil because my laptop was low battery and suddenly off either it goes Hibernate or off there is no time to read or write in the hard disk.
Then I just unplug the external hard disk.

If you face this situation don't unplug it, turn on the computer back and do a proper remove or shut down everything.

External hard disk, Western digital Mypassport. Yes using USB to connect to my laptop~ I hope i didnt misunderstand your meaning of USB hub~ hehe
Can see from the bottom icon "my passport" When i try to eject usb device out.
It's directly plug into the laptop.

I think it is not getting enough power. Try a powered hub.

Example: Rosewill RHB-320W 7 Ports USB 2.0 Hub with Power Adapter - Newegg.com

They exist also for USB3.

In addition maybe you could clarify WHS's question.
Is it plugged directly into a laptop USB port with no other USB device plugged in? If not try doing that.
I take it it was working fine and now it isn't?

You can try plugging it into another PC and see how it goes. Trying another USB cable if you could borrow one may be worth a test.

thanks mjf I try it before~~Mine is able to use either usb 2.0 or 3.0.
It's weird that because been using it for almost a year it work fine, but how could be suddenly not enought power?

This is how my hard disk look like.

The light is flashing too, now I try using the miniTool partition recovery software where i found it from other thread. If its not working I dont know what to do. Now i doing the full scan, the quick scan cant found anything took me 2 and a half day~~ @@"

I'm not sure what you are doing - a full scan or a PW minitool partition recovery.
2 1/2 days for a quick scan (using what - Windlg?). This is way way way too long.
Have you tried all your USB ports?
Did you try the HDD on another PC? In your picture you have something else plugged into what looks like another USB port. Can it be removed?

Lots of basic questions but you need to rule out a USB port or cable issue.

Aha, that is a different story. If it had been working for a year and then all of a sudden it does not, I would say it is a hardware problem with the disk. Try what Michael suggests and attach it to another PC, if possible with another cable. If it does not work there either, then you are in the market for a new disk.

Hard disks these days have extensive error-correcting capabilities; when you start seeing I/O errors, that means that the built-in error correction is no longer able to correct for the errors. That normally means the disk is very close to outright failing, if it hasn't already failed.

Go ahead and check your hard disk with this utility. If the Short Test fails, then Long Test. If the Long Test also fails, then RMA.

Yes, that is what I said RMA. But before RMA, you have to run the diagnostics and tell them that it failed - if it fails.

Yeah, you got a point. I use 4 external enclosures and use only bare bone disks now after a couple of my traditional external disks died. Fortunately I always double/triple copy my important data. The dead disks make nice paperweights, LOL.

Recently I buy SSDs for use in the external enclosures. Up to now they hold up - we'll see.
