I used DBAN to wipe my hard drive and i forgot to back it up. I do not have the CD for Windows 7 installation, therefore I created a bootable flash drive for Windows 7 64bit. I can't figure out what drivers is needed to continue on the installation. It says: "a required CD/DVD drive device is missing. If you have a driver Floppy Disc, CD, DVD, or USb Flash Drive, please insert it now."

Here is the information on my laptop I retrieved off the website.

HP Pavilion dv6t-7000 Select Edition Entertainment Notebook PC includes:
• Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit
• 2nd generation Intel® Core™ i5-2450M Processor (2.5 GHz with Turbo Boost up to 3.1 GHz)
• 8GB DDR3 System Memory (2 Dimm)
• Microsoft® Office Starter: reduced-functionality Word/Excel® only, No PowerPoint®/Outlook®
• Intel® HD Graphics
• 750GB 7200RPM Hard Drive
• 32GB mSSD Hard Drive Acceleration Cache
• No additional security software
• 6 Cell Lithium Ion Battery
• 15.6-inch diagonal HD BrightView LED-backlit Display (1366x768)
• SuperMulti 8X DVD+/-R/RW with Double Layer Support
• HP TrueVision HD Webcam
• 802.11b/g/n WLAN

1) it get to the "windows is loading files..." black screen (starting from CD/DVD drive)
2) get to the starting windows, with the Windows 7 loading screen thing where the balls of light come together
3) get to the first window to install Windows 7, titled "install windows"
options:
- language to install (i chose english)
- Time and currency (i chose US)
- keyboard (i chose US)
there is a next button, i click it to get to next step
4) bigger button saying "install windows" with the Windows 7 logo just above it, i click the button
5) Windows 7 background with the words "setup is starting..."
...i wait...
6) next window it is titled "load driver"
"a required CD/DVD drive device is missing. If you have a driver Floppy Disc, CD, DVD, or USb Flash Drive, please insert it now."
"NOTE: if the windows installation media is in the CD/DVD drive, you can safely remove it for this step."
there are a few buttons available to choose from:
- browse
- OK
- Cancel
i click 'OK'
7) theres a little loading bar that says it is "looking for the drivers..."
8) another window pops up titled "load driver"
[exclamation mark icon (coloured yellow)]
"No device drivers were found. Make sure that the insrtallation media contains the correct drivers, then click OK."
(i click 'OK')
9) the same window appears that is in step 7, ill try my best to explain what it looks like (you may already know...

titled "install windows"
"select the driver to be installed."
[there is a big empty box that should have the drivers listed in it, but there is none available]
[just underneath the big box there is a checkbox that is checked and says beside it...]
"Hide drivers that are not compatible with hardware on this computer"

there are also three buttons just below that
- "browse" able to be clicked, which qwhen clicked im sure you know what happens...
- "rescan" able to be clicked, which, undoubtably, rescans for drivers
- "next" shadowed out, unable to be clicked

also below the buttons there is a progress bar that has two total steps, 1 and 2
i am about 1/3 through step 1 at this point...:(

any help would be great.... thanks guys.

The error means you have a bad installer. Start over with the latest official ISO download in Step 1 written to stick with tool in Step 2 of Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7..

Is the USB inserted into A USB3 port? If so, use a USB2 port.

Are you able to boot to Command Prompt in the Win7 installer's System Recovery Options ? If so Go ahead and format an Active Primary partition to see if the installer can see it, using Option 2.2 from SSD - HDD Optimize for Windows Reinstallation.

If the installer continues to give the driver error message then replace it as I specified earlier.

I am able to access the comand prompt in win7 installer. I will attempt to format a primary partition. stay tuned. thanks

I followed the instructions accordingly and the primary partition is shown when I browse through the files. Though, the driver error message still appears.

I will attempt to replace the iso now and see if that works.

Thanks.

Yes, it does. A few hours possibly depending on the size of the HDD.

I followed these instructions. When I browse and select the ISO (X17-58997), the Windows 7 USB tool says the file is not valid.

I used PowerISO to see the image properties and i selected the box UDF, saved, and the X17-58997 was able to create the bootable drive on the Win7 usb tool. Could this be a reason why i get the missing driver error message?

Download another ISO and try again. It should be detected without having to do surgery on it.

If it fails again then try using UltraISO Software To Create Bootable USB Flash Drive
which always works.

Have you reinstalled Windows before?

If you had not wiped the HD you could boot into HP diagnostics tapping the ESC key at boot to test your hardware. I would test the HD anyway using the maker's HD Diagnostic
extended scan or Partition Wizard Partition surface test

Does the PC have UEFI BIOS? If so you should see UEFI settings in BIOS setup, such as Legacy BIOS or Compatibility Service Mode (CSM) so boot into BIOS setup via ESC key to check this now, and also confirm your SATA controller mode is set to AHCI.

I can't see the option to verify if the SATA controller mode is set to AHCI. I do have a visual on the UEFI and Legacy Boot Order.

There is option to disable the Legacy Support and that give me an option to change the network boot protocol to IPv4, IPv6, or IPv4+IPv6.

will creating a raid volume do anything?

under the UEFI Device Config
>Intel(R) Rapid Storage Technology
>>Intel (R) RST 11.5.9.1723 SATA Driver
>create RAID VOLUME
>>Non-RAID Physical DISKS
>Port 0, 698gb
>Port 1 29gb
