I did think my BSODs were resolved some days ago, less frequent perhaps.

I had a BSOD today, and a screen/mouse freeze & reboot (no BSOD) 2 days ago.

Now I have noticed this only seems to happen in my usual (and for a long time) Firefox browser so I will run IE for a while.

I have a previous post here for BSODs but it seemed to come good, again it seems better.

New SF Tool zip attached.

Yesterday my PC was running for hours and prior to that, a day of so ago for 16+ hours backing all HDDs up to an external HDD (no or little Firefox use).

I note it has never crashed in QuakeLive.

I appreciate and have read the Stop 0x0124 - what it means and what to try bug check topic but really don't think it is hardware at this time but it is a 2007 motherboard.

I continue reading all I can trying to resolve the issue and appreciate any assistance :D

Make it sure that no hardware parts like CPU, RAM or GPU is not overclocked at all.

Check if the Power Supply Unit (PSU) supplying adequate power to the computer or not.
eXtreme Power Supply Calculator
Also let us know the wattage of your PSU.

Is the computer hot? Report us the heat of the computer after a couple of hours of your normal usage. Upload a screenshot of the summery tab of Speccy. Alternatively, you can publish a Speccy snapshot too: http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/311593-speccy-publish-snapshot-your-system-specs.html .

Test your RAM modules for possible errors.
How to Test and Diagnose RAM Issues with Memtest86+
Run memtest for at least 8 passes, preferably overnight.

If it start showing errors/red lines, stop testing. A single error is enough to determine that something is going bad there.

Stress test the Graphics Card using Furmark.

Just had a BSOD while doing all the tests above, but it ONLY happened when I accidently went into Fire Fox (my default browser at the moment - Must change).

I had just completed 17+ minutes of the GPU/video testing and clicked on the link to view results.

My observation is that it was all stable @ 77degrees C and 99% GPU load.. Seems OK to me..

Will complete all above soon and advise.

Firstly thank you for all these testing procedures.

All testing so far progressed OK that I could see.

The tests that can be run overnight (memory & CPU) will be done but I thought I'd post this update.

I note BSOD ONLY happened when Fire Fox was opened accidently on video stress testing as above and not while conducting ANY stress testing or while in IE or playing in window resizing and moving window about or typing all this?

Make it sure that no hardware parts like CPU, RAM or GPU is not overclocked at all.
Nothing is overclocked and I have never experimented with it at all.
Check if the Power Supply Unit (PSU) supplying adequate power to the computer or not.

Result: I over estimated in some components and get recommended PSU = 397W
Also let us know the wattage of your PSU.

Test your RAM modules for possible errors.

Interestingly, I tried Windows Memory Diagnostic first thing this AM (had done before) and there was no report onscreen on restarting as I expected.I Googled and found the results in Event Viewer.. Ran again.

Both of today and the first run in January report Windows Memory Diagnostic tested the computer's memory and detected no errors
How to Test and Diagnose RAM Issues with Memtest86+ Run memtest for at least 8 passes, preferably overnight.
My BIOS only supports Hard Disk or CD boot so I made a CD. I haven't done that in quite a while so thank you for the excellent instructions. Initial run (2 hours) reports no errors. I didn't expect any but I will run again overnight and report if necessary.

Notes:
1. Norton's would not let me download the free utility Speedfan on the Hardware - Stress Test With Prime95 page

We have got two temperature reports, and both of them are indicating the CPU temp as 74 degrees. Is it the normal temperature, or a temperature after the stress test only?

What is the temp of the CPU after an hour of normal usage?

Hello and thanks for the assist Arc.

I don't recall exactly the times but the Speccy jpeg was created at 1052 and I see that the stress test jpeg was created at 1117 so I'd quess the CPU was under quite a load at the time. Sorry, I wasn't thinking.

OK this AM I have run speccy at intervals and here are the CPU temperature reading over the period. Screen print below.

15 - 48c
30 - 47c
60 - 46c
Edit: Stable at 2 hours and down to 44c
Pretty stable I think and I will leave the PC running for 3 - 5 hours and check again.

Again, recalling all freeze and BSODs, I seemed to be in FireFox at the time, either copying & pasting, scrolling or simply moving the mouse.

Still searching for an answer and I googled as you do, "firefox causing screen freeze" which lead me to a possible answer and

this topic in the W7 Forums.

Seems hardware acceleration within the FF browser might be the source of my woes.

I have switched off and will advise.

Yeah, otherwise there is no valid ground of a stop 0x124 during a firefox session.

Well done. Let us know how it goes.

All appears to be normal, thankfully.

I should have realized earlier when I typed the words ....BSOD ONLY happened when Fire Fox was opened

Thanks for the W7 Forums and the post by Guy on 23 November 2013 here.

.............. two things usually cause Firefox to freeze (and freeze the PC as a result). Hardware acceleration and Flash.

https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb...e-acceleration

The fix for me was to disable hardware acceleration.

Marked as solved:D
