Ok, so after my thread on a non related power supply question for a different pc, with carwiz and Solarstarshines excellent help, I started to read up more on power supplies, understanding voltages and the like. Anyways, After doing a lot of research and learning a lot, it made me scared. Why?

Because the power supply I have is a cheapo. I spent a lot of money on components and not a top rated PSU. I started looking into my rig. (specs are there) and realized that my power supply had good reviews when I bought it, but now they have bad reviews. And worse still, with the knowledge I have now-I have learned that cheapo power supplies like the one I bought can kill (fry) all your components easily, where the higher quality units have better protection against that. And with better quality means less chance they take everything down with it.

I am getting close to buying a ssd, (something I am insanely excited about ) but now I am second guessing myself and wondering if I should buy a better PSU instead. I have had no problems with this one....but I am freaking out.

That PSU rates up there with CoolerMaster 700w extreme PSU which i own and have it in my other Rig

Roswell makes good PSU's when buying a PSU you normally want to go for a Silver or Gold Rating i skip the Bronze and Platinum is just for people who really want the best

The reviews on it seem pretty fair when i was reading them and the goods out number the bad's by the way

I would only trust Rosewill Capstone series of PSUs.

I can't say I know anything about Rosewill PSUs, nor can I find any thorough reviews (one from jonnuGURU would have been nice), but for alll the reading I've done now I can't find anyone complaining about it... To be fair though, I would have personally been wary of going for a PSU with only a 1-year warranty. On a side note, anyone know who manufacture's their PSU hardware? Can't seem to find that part.

What you're describing about a low(er) quality PSU having a chance to cause damage is much like saying you shouldn't stand outside in a thunderstorm, because you could be struck by lightning. Yes the danger is there, and yes it has happened in the past, but these are one-in-a-million sort of odds.

Honestly, unless you're running the unit close to it's limits I don't see any cause for worry.

Thank you. I learned a lot right there! I actually found out rosewill is a newegg generic brand. Who would have thought?

I think ZaLiTH is right. I can either worry about my psu and be paranoid or actually enjoy my pc and get a ssd Failures do and can happen at anytime. Quality psu or not. I have not seen any major bad things on this psu being reported either, so I will let is go. After I get the ssd I will look into the better psu's like this one:

Corsair has a great no questions asked warranty program, check on that with any brand you decide on getting.
