Hey there,
first post! and this is bugging me quite a bit.

My music all of a sudden stopped showing me the tags in my music folder in explorer where it did so previously.

*Only shows the title of the music file. No tags (Artists, title, album, etc)
*Windows 7 Ultimate x64
*Unable to edit in PROPERTIES>DETAILS when .mp3 is not in use
*WMP AND iTunes all show the tags fine in the programs and tags can be edited there
*I have converted the tags all to ID3 2.3 = Nothing
*I have removed the 2.* tags and converted from 1.1 tags back to 2.3 = Nothing
*M4A file's tags show up fine in the same folder. So folder containing all my music show the tags of M4A not MP3
*changed windows default programs = Nothing
*Ran a ton of registry repair programs = Nothing
*Tag editing programs show the tags as fine and totally editable, etc.
* I have sufficient permission
*I am administrator
*I've tried making sure I have full access on all accounts
*THIS IS TRUE FOR ALL FOLDERS ON MY COMPUTER

Please note they used to show up fine. Perhaps something from windows update messed everything up?

Thanks in advance!

See if this helps:
http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/700-system-restore.html

The name is misleading - it's not a Windows re-install.

Restore Point take a snapshot of system files and you can roll back the system to the point they were created.

If you know when this started and there is a Restore point before that time, you should be ok after a rollback.

when you say quote: "*Ran a ton of registry repair programs = Nothing"
That's probably done more damage than good. You do not need so called registry cleaners for Windows 7.
Why have you switched off System Restore, it is a most useful tool in Windows 7.
Haha yes, I realized turning it off to save room has been a bad idea. and yeah, registry cleaner and scanners i realize will **** shit up. im trying to see if i can reset some windows settings by restoring the registry somehow.

Hold on with messing with the registry, unless you really know exactly what you are doing you could very easily do a lot of damage.
i am beginning to think that as you have already had a go at "cleaning the registry that you best option might be a complete re-install of Windows 7! I know that might sound drastic but just in case things get worse I would strongly recommend you back up all your data files to an external hard drive before doing anything else. Then if you decide that a re install is the best bet then this is the tutorial for you:

Yeah I might do a clean reinstall. If I have a separate partition, those files are protected right? its just C:/ thats going to be changed?
