Startup Repair Not working after disk defragmentation

First prove your D-disk is healthy
Code:
chkdsk/f d:
A lot of things repaired? Unrepairable things? Run it again to see if no more errors. All fixed... then continue.

Is winload.exe now in the correct folder? If so:
Do startup repair 3x

All the problems you have are most likely due to D disk corruption. The recovery tools don't work because .... win7 installation is a little bit corrupt.

well i never scanned the D: fully in the first place i only got to around 39% before i went to bed - but if you want me to scan it and check il do it but will take hours on end

im guessing it just scans the files inside that disk for any corruption etc in the files ?

I don't think you're understanding me since you keep referring to Factory Recovery. The Factory Recovery is teh same corrupt Win7 install you have now, which on HP is the worst possible install of WIn7 one can have - smothered by bloatware and duplicate utilities which have better versions built into Win7.

The install you want so you can for the first time enjoy Win7 as an OS is to Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7, not run Factory Recovery.

However some later model HP's have a Minimal Recovery which is nearly the same as a Clean Reinstall, so if your Recovery will still run on that PC I would check if its available.

Never be afraid of having the best install of Win7 when you now have the worst one, which also will not run! It is the opportunity to have the best instead of the worst. Wouldn't that be important?

ah okey i see now - however it might be important to some but for me right now its not

for starters i dont have a Disc that can hold a max of 4GB's - maybe a USB but i cannot find one. im not afraid of having the best install of win7. im afraid of losing so much progress over the years that im not risking on doing a clean install atm. maybe once i get all the necessary files i need backed up then il do it but for now its not my highest priority. besides its a challenge for me atm and a good way to learn for my self and from other helpful people..

it might be the most easiest way out and best - but with complications that i have atm its not really the solution im looking for.

granted its still a last resort and or if i get the problem fixed - il back up and do a clean reainstall

I wonder if it is possible to use a Linux Live CD to get access to get all files backed up ? Use Ubuntu Live CD to Backup Files from Your Dead Windows Computer

i guess its one way yeah - and il guess il actually need to run down to maplin to get a external HD

because i think ive figured out what the problem is here.

was reading on the technet forums for MS and seen a person desribe in depth on what the bcd command actually do and what the effect is etc (**FIX** Winload.exe Is Missing Or Corrupt (No Its Not)) "Repair MBR is a dangerous command, and should only be used after running repairbcd as it will wipe the MBR and recreate it using the information from BCD. If the MBR is corrupted with false information from BCD, windows will be unable to repair this itself and a reinstall will be needed to correct it."

i dunno why but i somehow feel this is the reason why its not detected my OS as well as when i do the rebuild bcd commands (Given on MS article) i still get avaiable OS :0 , now frankly i dont want to start pointing fingers. ive posted the exact same topics on many different forumsand sevenforums and HP forums seemed to be the fastest to respond to my problems but gave in just little over a day of going back and forth and seven has been the most consistant of people trying to pitch in and give suggestions on what to do etc. i feel that my MBR is corrupt and whenever i go threw the process of rebuilding it. it just goes on a loop of trying to repair etc.

and ways these 2 forums have been best at sources for info and help. so i thank yous for taking the time to help

now

toms hardware - still no reply even after 2 days

answers.MS - 1 reply but the same stuff that ive went threw on the previous day that my problem occoured

and well.. you get the idea

anways its just a matter of what is the quickest way to get my files backed up even if i cant boot and il need to attempt a clean install

That's NOT the reason! MBR can be rebuilt easily and bootsect /nt60 c /force /mbr did that.
The problem is: You're missing winload.exe on disk. And most likely much more files.

Another couple of question.

Does or did you have a HP defrag program that came with your system?

Have you ever or do you now have any programs by IObit. A example would be Advanced System Care
.

After read this thread again I think I found the problem.
It's in post # 37

ah.. okey i understand and i apologize. just its taking an extremely long time and getting slightly frustrated with my self as on the past 5 forums im getting hardly anywhere to fix this problem - its was only until i posted here i was slightly heading in the right direction.

After do the things that 5 other forums have suggested and things suggested on this forum your computer is in a complete mess and probably the best thing to do as Greg has mentioned several times is a Clean Install.

At this point it has nothing to do with what you, I, the other members or Santa Clause wants; it's what Windows 7 wants that counts. I believe Windows 7 wants a Clean Install.

for the 2nd time now *I Used Windows Default Disk-Defragger*

and i tried out IObit Advanced system care YEARS ago but since got rid of that completely and never used it again

and and just a quick let up to sort out any confusing - those other 5 forums where suggesting merely the same things as on the HP forums - HP forums and seven forums where the most quickest to respond
